This is a short video of how to use a carbide chisel that was manufactured by "Trow and Holden". There is something very satisfying about chiseling and shaping granite.... Enjoy the video!

Funny how,i go see this and know that granite can be chiseled like ancient Egyptian era. This just proves how other people wont look to see a person doing this craft.

There are so many lost arts of stone work. This foolish world acts like we are better and smarter than the ancient civilizations... Those generations of people were much stronger than the majority of this weak generation. They knew how to build things with only a fraction of the tools we have now.

dude tysm for this! I am getting into rock carving, and doing it by hand. I was set back at the price of those chisles, but now I see they would do what im needing in certain aspects. I wanna learn how to hand chisle granite bowels , or other very hard stones, including quartz. I read on their website, about improperly hitting on the carbide, and how it can shatter, or chip it. Cause if you hit on a edge it can blow it out it said. anyways thanks again :)

Wow! You are a Sculptor! Michelangelo who made a David Statue? or Ancient Greek Sculptor who made a Venus Statue? Sculptors are using exactly same tools.

I wish I had the skills some of those people do… but I do love chiseling and shaping stones like this. Very fun and therapeutic ✌🏻

I have a question for you; If I want to cut down a shop-made granite window sill with a concrete saw, what is the best way to remove the shart line of the saw cut and leave a nice hammer brush finish on there like the origional? tks in advance.

I would say you make slices every few inches with the saw and then chisel them off, you may see a little bit if the saw marks after but the majority would be natural split look.

@@TheChristianHardscaper will give that a try, though I had thought of going over it with a stone disc in the grinder to remove the sharp edges. Tks anyways.

I am not a fan of brock panels or gator base. I don't think it is permeable enough and it also prevents you from leveling the pavers properly. Something most people don't understand with those panels is that pavers can vary in thickness up to an 1/8" - 1/4" depending on the batch / manufacturer. So when you lay them on stone you can hammer the thick ones down to make them level with the rest. With panels, you cant do that so you are stuck with some pavers sticking up higher than others... which is not a good look...
