A level crossing and footbridge located on a quiet residential street in Chiswick, London. As stated by banners which had been placed up at the level crossing, it was be closed between the 22nd of April and the 2nd of May 2023 in order for a full renewal to be carried out as part of the much wider Feltham & Wokingham Re-signalling project. The signalling has since upgraded, and control will eventually be moved from Feltham to Basingstoke if not already. One of the alarms was broken and produced a flat tone, as can be heard. Someone is also seen rather impatiently running across with the red lights flashing in the first lowering despite the presence of the footbridge.
A few diverted South West Main Line trains are seen in this video, as that line was closed between Weybridge and Clapham Junction. These were using the Hounslow Loop Line, having come via Feltham, in order to avoid the London Waterloo to Reading Line around Richmond and Twickenham which became incredibly busy as a result of the diversions.
Thanks for watching!
