I disagree with mentioning skin color for anything. I 1000% believe if a brand told you it’s a “white” owned fragrance brand you would NEVER mention it.

Hi Ann, It's not about mentioning "skin color" It's about shedding light on ownership from groups who historically haven't had the same opportunities to create and have ownership of their own products and brands. And of course, as consumers, we have the right to use and judge products based on how well they work for us, our personal budget, and what we like about a specific product. All love.

What an inane argument. The vast majority of fragrances are “white” owned, so why mention the obvious? It’s completely valid to point out brands that are produced by people who have traditionally been excluded from perfumery.

@@geneva9990 doesn’t matter color or race should have no place in preference

Furthermore, always highlighting all things race and gender only only adds to the division everyone is already feeling.

In the US it is not mentioned because the business construct is usually created to be white owned; ergo no need to mention it. Minority and women businesses by structure are underrepresented. If I don’t like the product I won’t purchase it. However I seek out underrepresented business.
