Thanks for the video - I loved the beginning! We have done the cutting potatoes in half when planting, and found that it worked well, and they cropped just as well as the ones we planted whole.

I got my potato from supermarket during December (Christmas) when they were selling cheap as 20p a bag. Kept them and they sprout like crazy. Have already planted them.

@@MyFamilyGarden Every time I have tried chitting my pots in the greenhouse they have ended up cooked by the changing sunshine days and heats, I don't have any other places that are light and cool to chitt, but the ones I have left over go into the shed and before long the dark has chitted them better than the advice from the so called experts. A good point you made, and one I never thought of till you mentioned it , is about Farmers just planting un-chitted straight into the ground and having a good harvest. Many thanks for your time and effort.

MashaAllah, I will be growing potatoes on my balcony ,but I will wait until end of March to plant them ..I've put the sprout potatoes that I will plant in egg box ..I hoping I'll get a good harvest this year..I'm in south London... Jazak Allah khair
@pepeespanol33122 жыл бұрын
Hi mate,if this is going to be your first go at potatoes,make sure your balcony is receiving at least 6 hours of full direct light,otherwise they will grow leggy and you wil onlyl get a lot of marble saized potatoes. If you are not sure,try for your first with only a couple of buckets and use your space for something you know will do well,so you do not lose the growing season. If potatoes do well,then go full on them the next season.

Ha Ha I loved the Shakespeare at the beginning 😄👍 Thanks for the info. I’ll be getting beds ready for potatoes soon and I wasn’t sure if I needed to chit them. I did last year, and I made a big deal out of laying them out in trays, but now I think that I’ll just take them down to the greenhouse in their storage boxes and plant them when I’m ready whether or not they’ve grown sprouts. This info is very much appreciated, thank you Monty!

I have just seen you on Marcus Wareings TV programme. The first video I saw of yours was how to grow ginger so it was very appropriate subject for me. Well done - and its great that your talents have been recognised by a wider audience

Lol my potatoes chit themselves under the cupboard so who am I to argue. The only reason I am chitting this year is the garden centre brought in seed potatoes earlier than normal and it’s too cold to actually put them outside. Thank you for sharing as always 🐝 safe hi mom 👋👋. 🙏🇺🇦☮️🌻
