I saw Chitty the other day at the Warbirds & Wheels museum at Wanaka, New Zealand. She's on display until April 30th, lent to the museum by her owner Peter Jackson. It was amazing to see the original Pierre Picton car in the flesh. Well worth the trip.

Marvin the Maniac yeah it was, believe it was a Borg Warner 6 speed auto but I could be chatting utter rubbish. If you look at the opening races scene, when chitty comes to a stop following the German Grand Prix her driver moves one of the levels forward, I assume that he was putting the transmission into park

This car was made by me ... it never appeared in any of the films and was handmade under licence from MGM. It was completed in 2003.
