My mom told me the story when I was 4 years old in 1971 at Trivandrum, Kerala. I showed the movie to my children. Now my grandchildren enjoys the same. Salute to the Great Almighty who blessed us with this entertainment. Jazakallahu khair.

Every time I had seen this movie on tv I had assumed it was a silly kid's movie about a flying car. I didn't know it was a musical because I never bothered to watch the entire movie until it came out on DVD. Now I can't get the songs out of my head.

I was in a musical based on this movie last summer. The songs are still stuck in my head and it is December!

Chitty is part of my family as we were the nearest thing to a neighbour to the windmill used in the film. My mum used to wheel me down to the windmill in my pram to watch the filming. When I went to see the show in London, I was offered the chance to meet the cast, but I had to refuse as my girlfriend was not keen!

It's with deep sadness that I must tell you Robert B. Sherman has died yesterday at the age of 86. He will be sincerely missed by all, and please remember to keep the family - especially his brother, Richard - in your prayers...

All I can think of is Jeff and Haley on American Dad flying off on Chitty because they blew their 100 million dollar reward on getting it from the Ian Fleming Museum in England. :)

My God Soundtrack Fred I wish the background musical score was uploaded rather than just the songs. The music in this is epic, Grandpa's theme is so delicious with a military band feel, the Pirate scene music is marvellously adventurous, the Spies theme is so clownishly goofy and dastardly, the Child Catcher music is so deliciously dark, creepy and sinister and the Revolution music is beyond climactic and epic. I haven't come across any music for this or Oliver! which both have possibly the best scene scores whereas I can find them for Wizard Of Oz, Mary Poppins, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Sound Of Music, Willy Wonka. Just a bit sad and disapointing that Irwin Kostal's delectable music score for Chitty is going to waste somewhat. I love the background music to this film and movies of this ilk. Stuff of dreams ☺️

Hello Tom, I know exactly what you mean, unfortunately the original score never saw the light of a release, yet, just the album material. Maybe we will have the luck at some point soon, as this now very precious release by Kritzerland Records (the so called "very very special edition") is now eight years old... time flies by so fast! Best to you!

You're thinking of TOOT SWEET. I'm excited because I'm going to receive the expanded soundtrack from Preserverence. The original CD release from Rhino and then reissue by VareseSarabade are fine but wholly incomplete.

You have excellent taste and amazing skill. I congratulate you. have you tried some of the great classics composers from Hollywood like Miklos Rozsa, Alfred Newman and Franz Waxman. I think you will find their music to your taste. Keep up the excellent work. I look foward to all your work. I really enjoyed Chitty, it brought me way back in time. Thank you again, EXCELLENT!!!!!!
