I will address the price. I didn't mention the price in the video because these things can change. Last I heard it will retail for $169 PER YEAR. But I wasn't sure if that was going to stick, so I didn't want my video to be immediately outdated. My coupon code (or codes from others) will get you at least $40 off which drops it to $129. I honesly don't know if it will return to $169 the second year or not. I wasn't told that. There are also some limited time, better coupon codes in my description (like 50% off) but they won't last as they are limited time. As for whether or not it's too expensive. I think it depends. For some it might be. The way I'm looking at it is that it's actual "Pro" software, and therefore might not be for everyone. If you use 3D Printing in a professional capacity, like a dentist, where you're making money on the printing, then it's not a hard sell as pro business software is usually a lot more expensive than $13 a month. Plus it would be deductable. If you're a hobbiest then it might not be for you. Some have argued that it's almost as expensive as the printer, but you could argue the same thing about resin. I am an affiliate and so it does help me if you use my affiliate links. But I'm not a sales person for Chitu. I was given an opportunity to get an early beta version and make a video about it and so I did. The opinions in the video are my own.

The thing is why should we be restricted to a vastly inferior product just because we cant justify 169 dollars a year as we aren't making money on our stuff. I can't even design my own parts, I just print what I can find online. They need to revamp the basic version with at least some of the added features so that at least adding supports works better, I'm sick of finding areas on more complex models where its impossible to add any supports because the software cant find a path from the build plate to the part.

Fish they say that they are also going to keep updating the free version. Also, I just subscribed to some swimming pool design software. It’s $200 a month plus an extra $100 the first month. At least this isn’t THAT expensive. 😂🤣

There’s some great features and the new supports in particular look awesome but you fail to mention the price - US$169 per year, every year. Chitu are off their rocker if they think their software is worth that. $50 a year and I’d be right on it but for the price of an entire Elegoo Mars PRINTER every year? They’re dreaming. I’ll just wait for Lychee to add those functions to their software for 1/6 the price.

They are not removing existing fearures from the basic version right? The disscount is only valid for the first year, and then what? A $169/year in subscripion fee for using a $200 printer is nasty. In comparison, the Prusa SL1S suddenly got a lot more affordable.

You can already try multiple resin profiles on your print in Lychee (and it works also with some non chitu based printers

holy cow the price... 140 € / year it looks really great and has great features too, but the price doesn't justify these features. The Mango3D Lychee Slicer3 has better pricing. € 30-48 per year, or a maximum of € 4 per month Even this pricing makes me think when I just want to print something every now and then. Personally, I don't use my 3D printer every month. So 140 € / year? No!

I want this just for the support improvements but at that price I think I'll pass. If they got it to the $50/ per range or I'd prefer $200 single time payment (the price I paid for S3D) I pull the trigger. The free version works well I stick with it for now.

Thanks for the coupon - used the $70 off. I'm having a problem adding profiles for my Anycubic Mono X. I can add them, but double-clicking on them to edit locks up the software. Hope they can fix this soon. Sent tech support a message.

If I'm making money using the software, it's just a cost of doing business and I'm OK with it. But 95% of Chitubox users are hobbyists and IMHO are unlikely to spend $169 a year for software to run a $250 printer.

I think this is how we have to look at it. It’s actual “pro” software. For someone using their printer to make money, the subscription price is easy to justify. For hobbyists, it might not be.

I'm brand new to this... I guess the Boolean operation could be used to create a negative mold of an STL if you put two boxes around it and only print the boxes? Are there other free slicers that do this?

Not sure, but you can perform this operation on Fusion360. Also Meshmixer. Hope that helps you.

i used to hate chuitubox but since lychee latest version is buggy i was forced to try chitubox basic, still not impressed but i tryed the pro and now prefer the pro version, dont like the price but i have ways to work around that

You didn't mention its 170$ a year. Why? I hope not stating the price was an oversight... One that you plan to clarify. But if you're going to accept (what I'm assuming this is) sponsorships from companies that demand you be dishonest or withhold information from your viewers, then you'll lose a lot of subscribers like myself. When lychee has 99% of the features Chitubox pro has, at 30$ a year, there is no justification for Chitubox's pricing. Not least when it looks like they're already removing some features from the free version with this new pro release. That's a *very* bad sign; it implies they'll keep kneecapping the free version to force people over to a subscription. Frankly, subscription models like this are hostile to hobbyists, but that's a discussion for another time.

Ah, fair enough. I wondered if they might not've announced the pricing by the time you were writing the script. My main worry is that they might do the same thing Autodesk has done with Fusion360 and start removing features from the basic version to try and get more people to subscribe to the pro version. That really hurt the hobbyist community in terms of having good free options for CAD, would suck if the same happens with SLA slicers.
