Chizawa Q - God Is Blue

'God is Blue' is one of the best tracks and albums of 2024 and ushers the return of the legendary 'R&S' record label from Belgium. Born in Yokohama, Japan, electronic producer and DJ Chizawa Q has stayed firmly rooted to his homeland, and especially the bay area, currently residing opposite Tokyo Bay where he recorded his debut full length album ‘Xenoverse’.
Released on the juggernaut Belgian R&S Records label, the album follows the huge success of his R&S released single ‘Asia’ that was originally released in 2006 and came with a back with a rebooted mix in 2022. With his sound entrenched in the Detroit school of techno, it’s easy to hear the influences of such legends as Underground Resistance, Kenny Larkin, Carl Craig and the European jazz techno exponents such as Dave Angel, Vince Watson and Steve Rachmand in his music.
On ‘Xenoverse’, Chizawa Q gets to spread his wings across the electronic music palette, pulling in contributions and collaborations from the likes of Masaki Sakamoto, Kowalewski and Dan Samsa, as well as a remix from Makoto Shimizu, the acclaimed drum ‘n’ bass producer from Tokyo.
From deep and driving techno cuts, to more intricate and detailed electronica productions, ‘Xenoverse’ takes the listener on a round trip, delving into jazz influences and abstract beat science across ten tracks, making for a sonically stimulating and enjoyable ride.
