MS Gabriella is a cruiseferry sailing on a route connecting Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden for Viking Line. She was built in 1992 in Brodosplit, Croatia as Frans Suell for service with Euroway. Between 1994 and 1997 she sailed as Silja Scandinavia for Silja Line. Gabriella has sister ships Mega Victoria operated by Corsica Ferries, Isabelle operated by Tallink, and a third one, Crown Seaways, operated by DFDS Seaways. The ship is the second oldest ship in Viking Line's fleet.

I have worked on Gabriella for 5 years, but now im on the line sister Cinderella! Yes its old but the interior was updated and renovated in 2018 and the cabins in 2022-2023. So it looks very new and nice inside. Cinderella is more oldschool and classic interior with an old english pub and lots of marbel (60 tons actually).

Was gonna say, they've updated the cabins! I had the same cabin in Early Spring -22 and the cabin still had that old, big "cabin table" in the "living room" at the time. Gotta say that the bigger sofa and (larger?) modern table make it look much better - along with the fresh coat of paint!

The ferries between Helsinki and Stockholm were part of my childhood, a trip to Stockholm was often the highlight of my summer vacation, we kids loved the ferry ride :) There are two ferry companies on the route, the Silja Line ferries are bigger and a bit more fancy than the Viking Line's.

The beauty of our Viking Line and Tallink Silja ferrys are that they do double duty. Ferryships for freight and pssenger vehicles as well as recreational cruise experiences. My favorite is to go Stockholm to Helsinki and back. So two nights onboard as well as half a day in Helsinki itself. :) Ohh, and the stuff in the minibar in the suite is complimentary. :) as indeed you found out eventually

I took an overnight ferry from Riga, LV to Stockholm back in 2012. The views in the morning going through the archipelago were quite stunning. The ferry wasn't as luxurious as yours, but was still quite nice with several restaurants, a night club, disco, two different musical performers in a bar, a duty free store, etc. It was apparently a popular weekend thing to leave Riga Friday night, party all night, arrive in Stockholm in the morning, and take the return ferry that evening, arriving back in Riga Sunday late morning. It doesn't look like that ferry runs currently though. Stockholm is beautiful and I want to go back and explore. Six hours wasn't enough!

My husband and I took an overnight ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo in December 2022 during our 4-week trip through Sweden, Denmark and Norway - and loved it! I have only once went with ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm, but i have propably went about 20 times from Turku to Stockholm. From Turku to Stockholm it takes "only" 11 hours. So if yoy don´t like spend so much time on ferry, then it is better to take train to Turku (it goes all the way into the harbour). Usually i take the cheapest cabbin if i go alone. But couple times when i travelled with my ex-wife, we took the sea side cabbin that had window to the sea. The buffets are really good at those cruises. Bad thing is that if i go to buffet, i will over eat everything wonderful.

You should also try Silja Line (Symphony or Serenade) between Stockholm - Helsinki (nicer ferries between those destinations compared to viking line. But viking line is known for having better food, but silja is not bad). Or Viking lines newer ferries, currently the best (Grace and the newest; Glory) between Stockholm - Åbo. And why not a cruise with Birka Gotland (dedicated cruise ship built in 2004, but newly renovated and purchased from birka cruises after the 'pandemic'), a new collaboration between viking line and Gotlandsbolaget, with multiple cruise destinations!

Lovely video! If you buy the dinner vouchers, they work in lieu of money in the cruise, so you can use it in any restaurant in the ferry. Also, the tax free is worth it mostly for alcohol and cigarettes. Candy at least is a total rip-off. It's more expensive therr than onshore. Most of the people use the ferry like a bus or train ride to get to the destination, and some use it to get hammered on cheap booze and sleep in before returning back to their home port while others explore the city for 6-7 hours.

It's a Spanish way to say sparkling wine. Like champagne is a sparkling wine produced in certain part of France.

Have fun but don't get Stockholm syndrome. lol Every time I hear the name of that town that's all I think of. I'm hoping to take a solo train ride up the Eastcoast of America. I hope to have half as much fun as you do on your solo trips.

Not sure if you are joking or not, but the "Stockholm syndrome" originally refers to a hostage situation at at bank in Sweden, where the hostages (because of how the human brain works) came to like and wanted to defend their captors. It is truly fascinating stuff. So, unless she got stuck in such a situation, it is unlikely she would be affected by this "syndrome". Also, Stockholm is not so much a town, as it is the capitol of Sweden. Not too sure Americans would like it if people started referring to Washington DC as a "town".

That's so cool! Have you started learning any Italian yet? ..heh, I think I mean tot say 'fish cake'. It's a class Swedish dish, that I was very sceptical about, but it was actually rather yum!

I would have a girls trip with you if having a girls trip with a stranger across the world was a thing. Also, I would’ve popped the champagne 🍾 and hoped for the best till we found out otherwise.

I do wish you would stick to your plant based diet even when abroad in foreign countries. There are thousands of other travel vloggers and they’re all meat eaters. We need more plant based representation when it comes to travel! Please!

I don’t eat completely plant based - but most of my food choices are plant based. I think it’s great to promote a more plant focused way of eating but I’ll still eat the occasional oyster ;)
