Hi everyone! Many of you have asked how I’m able to eat green beans. Even though they are technically a legume, green beans are very low in phytohaemagglutinin (the lectin found in most legumes). This makes green beans much safer and more tolerable on the gut than other legumes. To learn more this, please read the article down below :) www.thepaleomom.com/green-beans-peas/

I have what I call an “invisible illness” because I have so many different symptoms which is mainly my stomach as well as fatigue but no one has been able to diagnose anything. I started this diet today and I’ve been so up and down but this has given me so much hope. I can’t even explain it. I’ve gotten so used to feeling like crap all the time that I joke about it and I just have accepted it but this video opened my eyes to realize it doesn’t have to be this bad all the time. Thank you so much for this video.

Rosa Dela of course! And I get where you’re coming from with feeling alone. But I’m halfway through the completely restrictive time and let me tell you, there is such a huge difference. And I found some really solid meals that I really like and some snacks that are allowed and it’s so much easier now. The first time I went shopping was definitely the hardest because I looked at EVERYTHING and the ingredients and just felt so hopeless. But I found some really good staples and keep me going and keep me satisfied and it’s gotten a lot easier. I can’t even tell you how much easier it is from the first day to now. Don’t give up! When the cravings come, don’t acknowledge them, and they’ll pass. Find some really good meals that will be your staple, and fond some snacks that are allowed. Good luck!

Your story mirrors mine. I'm in the beginning stagges of learning how to transition into this new way of eating. Still trying to get my Dr to take my situation seriously. I live in Northern Canada and Majority of the Dr's here don't yet know anything about auto immune disease. Additionally I'm in an area where our grocery stores are extremely commercial foods. Even the supposed health foods on shelves are not really healthy. Still loaded with additives, corn, corn dervived and full of soy, canola and other no no list oils that don't belong in food. Closest naturopath Dr is 2 hours away from our community. So my food and supplements cost double amount. It's frustrating, however I'm working through it and won't stop till I get answers and results.

(5:39) 'I had a very very very hard time believing it was going to get better...' Thanks for saying. I'm 48 and I have faint hope but not much faith in my own ability to change, and less yet that anything will help. It seems to hard to prepare food, expensive and time consuming. I suppose it would be worth it? It's hopeful to find people who say they felt so terrible that they couldn't imagine otherwise, and now they are better, because I'm one who isn't better, yet. I dream it is possible, even if not for me, yet. I find it helpful that others are articulate about their journeys, more than I am able to be at present. You are hard to stop listening to. Intelligent, well spoken, and beautiful.

Hey there, I know this is late, but I just recently got diagnosed with Hashimoto’s like literally just started my medicine three days ago. My drs are just normal drs not specialists, so they never said anything about changing my diet. I’ve also had issues with digestion so I’m wondering if this diet would help me out, just nervous about cutting out the gluten, that’s my main concern, I don’t do much dairy or soy. Thank you for the videos.

Have you tried to clean your make up too? That’s the first thing I did after living w hashi for over 15 years and ignoring it as it was really not that severe but it started getting severe last 1-2 years. Was very expensive too. Make up maybe the huge cause of autoimmune in women. I have hashimoto too and I had no idea about the make up link most of my life until recently.

Sam East Hi! Yes, I do personally try to keep my carbs low because I have found that to be the most successful for me. I have to keep my sugar low because of my SIBO, but in the traditional AIP diet, it isn’t concerned so much with carbs and sugar as much as it is reducing inflammation. Right now though, I would definitely say that I try to do a variation of AIP/Keto. Everyone is different though!

The way you feel is how I'm feeling. I am always bloated, low energy (no matter how much sleep I get), I have a hard time sleeping now which I never had issues with before. I am always tired, I have a hard time working out now and no motivation lately. I am at my heaviest weight ever, my asthma is bad and I have a hard time riding my horse because of of my asthma and how tired I am. I'm not enjoying what I use to love, my stomach hurts and I throw up from eating some foods. Not sure what foods are making me like this. I haven't seen a doctor for it but my mother in-law does this diet for her health and she sent me recipes and info on the AIP diet. I will be starting it soon but I have to admit that i am nervous because I know it will be hard at first. I will end up getting head aches and bad cravings for foods that I can't have but I also know the headaches and awful cravings will get better or go away. I need to do this to better my health.

Maria, by now I am hoping the AIP diet has helped you tremendously. If you continue with feeling sick after meals you may want to see an Endocrinologist. I was tested for Gastroparesis (GP) and found out that I did have it. That was causing me to get sick after meals, feel sick and bloated, and I just felt like I had the flu a lot. You may care to look it up first and ask for your mom’s opinion. Several things can cause this. Also, I asked my doctor how can this be missed for so long (I had most likely had it for five years), she told me everyone feels like they have the flu so they cut back on what they are eating, feel better and then start eating again slowly. So I have had this for 10 years now and I feel fine if I simply don’t each much at all. I also have Type 1 Diabetes and it makes it very difficult to control the blood sugars since the stomach has delayed emptying which makes taking insulin a guessing game. Sorry, I should have explained a couple of the definitions for it: Slow Emptying of the Stomach, Paralysis of the Stomach, and a few others. It is just something to be award of. High fats, high carbs, high fiber all add to the delay in emptying of the stomach. Now I choose green smoothies, broth and for a treat some sunflower seeds. The less gluten the better I feel. Sometimes I add oyster crackers to my broth but don’t feel so great later. I pray this is NOT part of your path in life, but to know sooner is better. Then, with time you may be able to eat a little more of your favorite things with time. Just last week I got the diagnosis of Hashimoto’s and as sad as it is, I am glad because they have been giving me meds for each of the symptoms (with the exception of losing my hair!). Just think of all those meds I most likely did NOT need to take just brewing in my stomach. So trust in your own gut, be your own best advocate and keep up the good fight. If you are feeling up to it I would love to know how you are doing these days. Wishing you a healthy, happy day, GastroGal

There is a video going around of this guy Jordan Peterson talking to Joe Rogan and saying he is on the Carnivore Diet because he's allergic to basically everything. I wonder if in fact, he has these conditions or something similar and is undiagnosed. Many think he is losing weight because it's Low Carb and therefor not driving insulin, but may his issue is the carbs were feeding bad bacteria. I'm here researching because I have weight but I'm skinny fat or something with normal limbs and a big gut. Something about this has always seemed off to me. Also, my mom had surgery for Hashimoto's so it makes me wonder.

Dan Falls Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video! It definitely sounds like that man could have SIBO, and potentially other undiagnosed conditions. Both food allergies and SIBO are pretty common with autoimmune diseases. I honestly think everyone should get tested for basic autoimmune diseases with their yearly physical. It’s crazy how common they are! I hope your mom is doing welll!

I'm not a medical professional so I can't say what exactly is right for you, but I can definitely recommend the AIP diet. I think making soups is the easiest way to start. I like coconut and bone broth based Thai soups personally! Good luck with everything and thank you for your comment!

You can look up recipes to make coconut milk at home. It's very easy. 1 cup dried coconut flakes, 2 cups boiling water. Blend in a blender. Leave about 15 minutes. Squeeze through a cheesecloth. Put in the fridge.

Presence Tse I started noticing a change after about a week. For me it’s hard. I don’t think my weight will ever be steady because of the nature of my conditions. For example, I lost a total of 28 pounds, but I gained back about 14 in about 3 weeks. And then I lost a couple, gained more, etc. My weight is just something I’m always going to have trouble managing, but at least I know now what foods don’t make my body hurt.

@@chloflow I'm not quite AIP but close. However I have to track my calories daily or I don't get enough because of the foods don't have much. When I was close to AIP I was only getting 1200 to 1400 calories and I think that really hurt me hypothyroidism wise. Low calorie diets are very bad with hashimoto's. Now I make sure I get 2000 to 2200...I'm a Male though. Only difference is I eat eggs and oatmeal and nightshades. My TSH was 71 though when I was diagnosed so I had to take drastic steps to get better. I think the diet helped but was also taking medication at same time. It's a journey though. Still working on it.

Serena Odonata Yeah it can be difficult for sure! I think the best thing you can do is buy local, grass fed, or pasture raised/cage free animals and eat muscle meats as well as organ meats and bone broth. That way you’re getting the best quality and it’s not making an environmental impact. Mass produced meat isn’t high quality and isn’t as sustainable. I hope you start feeling better soon!
