The strange thing about humans is there is such a narrow sweet spot. There are so many that live this same life. But, there are those that don't have that inner struggle. They don't get it. They've lived their entire life with no one, not even themselves, challenging them.

There is no genre for Ren, his talent genuinely breaks all boundaries. He writes, sings, raps, produces, beat boxes, you name it. Try Sick Boi, Chalk Outlines (live version with Chinchilla), Diazepam, Genesis, How To be Me (live version with Chinchilla). If you fancy some brilliant story-telling try the Violet/Jenny/Screech trilogy. If you fancy rap try The Hunger, Losing It and What You Want

Angels and demons dont have tonworry abiut the dance. They are either all good or all evil. Human beings are both. If we spend our whole lives trying to be perfect, trying to overcome, we will realize one day we haven't actually lived at all.

I know nothing about the physical and mental struggles that come with an auto immune illness, but i suffer from severe chronic depression and immense loneliness for more than 30 years. I *know* that evil and nagging voice inside my head, i hear it every single day. It is so powerful and exhausting. Self doubt, self hate, low to no self esteem, lost the ability to experience joy, nothing excites me anymore. Literally *nothing.* But a few months ago, Ren pops up on my video suggestions. Now I pretty much listen only to his songs and collabs and with his Band "The big Push". This bard, multi - instrumentalist, rapper, songwriter, singer, lyricist, producer ... has left me speechless and "WOW !" so many times. I have watched hundreds of reaction videos to his songs and i really like watching people´s faces and body language when they are blown away by Ren. I am absolutely certain that he WILL win Grammys in the future.
@mburkitt7678 Жыл бұрын
Loved your reaction. Ren realized that in order to avoid becoming a victim, he must become a student and learn how to cope. In the end, he also learned that the dance is eternal; however loudly or softly one's own demons speak to them, they are always looking for new opportunities to control us and they never give up.

Love that I found Hi Ren reaction vids because I sit and watch all of them. This video & song together are brilliant. With his facial changes, vein in his neck and lights flickering when bad Ren is talking... genius showing the different sides. & towards the end when he hits some singing notes, damn, he can really sing too. "And I go by many names also, Some people know me as "hope".... Some people know me as the voice that you hear, When you loosen the noose on the rope" My wife hung herself in 2020. That line hits me hard. She battled her own self & lost. Maybe that is why I am drawn to this song/video so much.

Here is some additional information on Ren's story that I gathered from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Erin Gill is a British musician/independent artist; born in Wales on March 29, 1990; he eventually moved to Brighton. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, Ren began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is currently in Calgary, Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023) undergoing IV and other interventions five days a week. Ren recently underwent wisdom tooth removal and cavitation surgery. In addition, his Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals as well as his bones/joints. Now, Ren is receiving additional treatments for this previously undiagnosed condition. Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Check out and subscribe to his channel, if you are a content creator, ask your audience to subscribe to Ren. Listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to the world, and his work is important in these troubling times. Someone has finally created a Wikipedia page for Ren, so there is additional information available. Here is the link to Ren’s GoFundMe page to raise money for his current treatment. Ren has exceeded his initial goal. However, his goal was very conservative and did not reflect the added costs of unforeseen surgical procedures, and treatment for additional health issues such as MCAD. www.gofundme.com/f/ren-get-better-from-lyme-disease-and-autoimmunity

First of all, first time visiting your channel, and wow,you are absolutely gorgeous, had to get that out of the way lol. This work of art that Ren has created, it's more than just music, more than just art, it's his soul given for all to see and experience, I must have watched it a hundred times in the past couple weeks since I discovered it. I honestly had to stop it first time, I had to turn it off, it reached soo deep inside and I realized, that's me, I've dealt with that psychosis all my life, I was born with those voices and never went through therapy or took medication, I learned the same things he did on my own, but when I buckled up and went back to watch it all the way through, I'm in tears right now typing this, it gave me such empowerment, I still struggle, but this beautiful piece Ren has created, has helped me gain more peace, and he has such courage to do what he has done, and I now have courage to come out to people and say, yes, I have this problem, I've had it all my life, but I'm human and I'm flawed, but I'm ok, and I am better than what my other self says. This is not just art, it's a beautiful gift of knowledge , given by one who has endured the flames, and come out forged and stronger than ever, sooo beautiful. OK that was a long comment, please watch his video with chinchilla, it's called Chalk Outlines, another amazing work of art.

Ren calls his style "Bardcore" which is a good description because his acoustic guitar has nylon strings which makes it sound more like a lute. His storytelling style is most evident in "The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full)." The "sequel" to "Hi Ren" is "Sick Boi" and his most recent release is "Illest of Our Time" which is a double entendre given the knowledge of his health issues. The most popular of his collabs is "Chalk Outlines" with Chinchilla.

This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me-much the same as this song resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape negative self-talk and imposter syndrome, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that already resides within me-was sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

Really liked your reaction to this. From the first time that I heard it I knew that it was really special. Genre wise, for me, it has to go performance art. I can’t see this tune having the impact that it does as it’s portrayed here if it were simply an audio track. You need that visual along with that audio. It is certainly a unique work as far as I’m concerned. I literally watch a reaction video every night because I want reaction contributors to be as blown away as I was when I first watched it. Absolutely stunning piece of work. Mind blowing! 🤯 x

Honestly I agree, performance art! I think I love it a lot because when I was a lot younger I listened to a lot of spoken word / emo / post hardcore haha. I know it's a completely different genre but this was great :D Enjoy your reaction vids, honestly so worth it seeing these first realisation moments!

Every single song of his is 🔥 🔥 🔥. A lot of people react to sick boi next as it seems like a natural continuation from showing the importance of mental health to his criticism of the Healthcare industry. It all depends what you would like to explore. For example, epic storytelling: "The tale of Jenny and screech (Full version)" ; fun, upbeat, positive jams ("humble", "what you want" etc,) for straight on rap rap ("The Hunger," "Losing it," "Illest of our times," "Ocean," "Life is funny" etc), Discussion of serious topics (eg "Dominoes," "Genesis " "Dear God," "Insomnia" etc), political criticism ("Money game I &II," "Crucify your culture)" straight on singing ("Chalk outlines," "How to be me"). Hope you go down the rabbit hole and do more postings 🙏

first off Chlooeeeexo thanks for not pausing every 10 seconds like most do, this is fuqin genious, it brings mental health into light and shows each of us we have that negative voice putting fear or depression on us and how we fight it off i don't care if you're muhammed ali bruce lee we all have that eternal dance for me its alcohol, weed and tobacco, hooked on all 3 when i was 7, and being forced to go to sunday school and church every sunday aged 4-16, it was the swing 60's now i'm 60 and 8 years post massive stroke, tobacco every minute....smoke a cig it relaxes you curbs your appetite me.... they are so bad for me, they stink my girlfriend and friends hate em, tobacco, we've been together 43 years you can't quit me, and so on every one of has a negative thought pattern trying to tear us down, just remember people we are'nt angels, and not as bad as demons, so stay strong baby its a scary rough world much love from central cali from a desert rat 70's metalhead

I'm only coming late to REN. But I just wanted to say that Cloe pretty much was me. Initially.... wtf, then realising what and who we just watched and listened to. And if that portrayed just Ren's story or more everyman. Whatever way we see it or take it, it's powerful, connecting, visceral deep, and deserving of praise for pushing the viewer's introspection. A class act. And great reaction, Chloe, to something so dynamic and deep.

my connection to this song is only the similarity of struggle,, i'm undiagnosed autistic and have struggled with being a bit weird my whole life i had to start my own business because i had problems holding a job with sleep disorders and high ethics.. but managed to stay in business the last 40 years without needing to advertise or even carry a card, i run a lawn and tree service, a 1st responder thru 40 years of hurricanes in fla ,and do all phases of construction and kind of an inventor on the side, after six years of development i figured out a disaster response product that could help millions worldwide .. then my insurance agent forgot to post a payment back in 2020 and the state took everything i worked the last 40 years for away .. stuck at home like a prisoner i came online and saw people helping others so i started making videos explaining what i was. trying to do to get help, and found out if the platform your uploading to doesn't promote you your just talking to your phone, and then i see stuff like this and get jealous because i will never write a song that gets peoples attn like this. so my chances of bringing my ideas to the world are fading. and it's scary as hell to think of all that could be, but it may all be lost because one person forgot to hit enter on there keyboard.. and my chances of succeeding alone are close to those of getting out of quicksand alone..

I started following you cause I loved your accent and it was by accident when I clicked on a KZbin suggestion that's to say how sometimes the algorithms do it right , the same that it did to you to discover Ren I love the guy, his song had helped me cope with my crippling depression and anxiety last year all his songs totally describe situations that if you don't experience you don't know how it feels really

Have you ever offered a kind word to someone simply because you recognized it was needed? Fed someone who was hungry? Provided an encouraging hug? Of course, you have. These connections are necessary for the healthy growth of humanity. As humans, we are all born with the capacity to be each other's therapist in moments. We are all good enough.

Ah! Other songs by Ren? "Sick Boy" naturally follows on from this despite being quite different. I have been on a quest for a not very good Ren song for several months. I have failed in my quest. My favourite is the Jenny, Screech and Violet trilogy. I have watched many Hi Ren reactions and this one I really liked. Well done. React to more Ren please. Any more Ren!
