The fact she was trans threw me through a loop at first, and I remember wondering if she was gonna be trans or just a really butch woman like Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones. However, the actual execution of her character writing was great, and the culmination of her stepping back unto the role of a military officer one last time was fantastic. But that final scene was the best moment. It was there that she became my favorite character. The simple fact that she was going to die fighting to the bitter end was both inspiring and heart-wrenching. It was the perfect blend of the badass soldier, the tragedy of fighting for a lost cause, and the courage to face death head-on.
