Lee Jung-Jae (the actor who plays 456) improvised a lot of his more wholesome scenes, like when he first runs into Sae Byeok and helps her pick her coffee back up or the way he smiled when he got his picture taken. He felt that Gi-Hun was too much of a loser for people to root for so the only way to make the audience like him was to make him this goofy, optimistic, silly guy who you could tell from the start that meant well.
