I’ve been making this cake since 1970. My aunt saw it in the Baltimore Sun Newspaper. It’s become a family favorite. The original recipe called for 1 cup AllBran, the kind that looks like twigs, not the flakes. I also add 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1 cup raisins, 1 cup peanut butter chips. I spray the pans with Pam (generic) as I’ve had too many disasters in the past. While I mainly use a Bundt pan, I have used various sized loaf pans, cupcake pans and mini cupcakes. The loaf takes about 45 minutes, but check frequently. This weekend I will be making 8 batches of this. Six will go in 9x5 loaf pans and the other 2 will be in Bundt pans. They are part of my family gift baskets which will include 2 types of homemade candy and brownie cookies. Everyone likes this and it makes Christmas shopping very easy😀.

You are correct on the source of the recipe. I found that on the back of an ALLBRAN cereal box in the 70’s as a kid. Still a delicious cake that everyone seems to enjoy. Thanks for posting 😊

I would LOVE to see a vid or post on prune cake recipe! Theres a War Cake recipe i got from a coworker, it was eggless, milkless, butterless cake. As bland as it sounds, it was quite good and called for prunes and raisins.
