Eat your prints! If your print fails just eat it! This would be great for bakery’s and coffee shops. Love this.
@Fishfish4583 ай бұрын
The concept is funny but the print time seems long (that thing is moving slow for a boaty print i'd predict 1.5 to 2 hours) and very finicky, set filament length limits size. Silicone molds exist and would be far easier to reproduce in higher quantities than hours for a single piece.
@asterlofts15653 ай бұрын
This idea has actually existed for a few years now. You know... PRINT YOUR FOOD.
@Hachiro3 ай бұрын
@@Fishfish458 That's all true. But you won't make a custom mold for the single customer who wants some weird specific topping for their cake (and hopefully understands the added cost). Bakeries can use these to print out people's names in specific fonts onto their order of cookies for something like a baby shower. Or they could try out making a batch of custom filled little chocolate cubes, messing with the infill to get a special texture. (Chocolate bars have varieties that have air bubbles in them to give a different texture in your bite. Changing the infill could make it really interesting) For huge batches, yeah it's not worth it. It'd be easier to 3d print, smooth, then make a mold. But the customization of sweets is a huge market that people will pay for. (Weddings, birthdays, baby showers, any other kind of gathering)

@krillen643 ай бұрын
This printer is amazing. I can see it helping bakers/chocolatiers do more cool things with chocolate then they probably would have otherwise be able to do. Or use it to do what is to difficult to do. I wouldn't want a baker to use it in place of human talent. It would be best if it was used to enhance their work and what they are able offer. Much like a company today would use a regular 3D printer to help them make products in the prototype stage and such. Helping them save money and being able to get it right before going to manufacture if their product requires that. Over all it's nice to see the progress forward the technology is going and what if possible now that wasn't say 5, maybe 10 years ago.

Whether this catches on or not will depend a lot on cost. It could be useful for cake decorators but it would have to be cheap and fast or it's not worthwhile. They could just as easily make what they want a more traditional way.

@@pileofstuffThat's exactly what it is. They found they couldn't use traditional chocolate when developing the machine, because in order for the machine to not constantly jam they needed to get the chocolate so hot and completely melted that it didn't have enough time to start to cool and solidify during the printing, so they had to experiment with all different kinds of modifications to traditional chocolate recipes, and found that by adding palm oil that they could heat it and allow it to cool during the printing process at precisely the exact right points in time.
