I made this today... ohhhh my it's the most beautiful chocolate cake i've ever made and i've made tons of cakes!! @velocitygirl8551 I am so curious to know how the frosting taste and feels in the mouth! I got a bit scared about the cornstarch quantity as well! How it tasted?
@nikkalcaraz5 ай бұрын
@@thaistabem it’s like canned frosting but with great flavor and not as sweet. A bit pudding like too. The cornstarch doesn’t affect taste or texture. It looks like a lot of cornstarch, but it’s only because it makes a lot of frosting. It’s a huge cake and it needs enough frosting to go between 4 layers and cover the surrounding. My advice is to trust the process. You won’t be disappointed. Think of it as a recipe that has been scaled up.

So delicious it makes my pants fall down. Cake and frosting are moist, even after in frig over night. Although fudgy, the cake is tender, and I found it neither unctuous nor cloying. The only changes I made to the recipe are: Three 9 inch x 2 inch pans, plus 6 standard cupcakes, baked for 30 minutes I used the reverse creaming method for batter ½ cup oil plus ½ cup melted butter instead of 1 cup oil 1 cup of rum, plus 2 cups water in frosting, instead of 3 cups water

Entered my baking arc recently and made this cake two days ago! 🧑🍳🍰🍫 Got to taste it yesterday because I finished it around 10 PM hahah 😅 too late for cake at that time! It still needed to cool a bit more too, so to the fridge it went after assembly! After tasting it, I must say it is very yummy!!! Not too sweet not too bitter! Just the perfect balance of chocolate flavor! I did struggle a bit following the recipe 🤔 I was going off audio + the instructions in the description, didn't know how long to leave the milk and vinegar mixture go for, As well as missing the text on the video of keeping it medium heat on the frosting making. Was confused on how long the frosting would take at what heat setting. Got some burned bits at the bottom of the pot from raising the temperature 🫣 Did see it in time and it turned out well! Was like magic when the hot chocolate consistency turned to frosting. Was a little scared of clumps due to having bad luck when working with cornstarch but it turned out perfect!! I accidentally ended up overbaking the cake a bit and it releases crumbs upon cutting despite following the heat and timing instructions ( I set it for 75 mins, timer had 22 mins left to go, good thing I checked with a toothpick before they got too dry. Will keep a better eye next time) However, the milk moat method quenches its thirst and makes it soooo gooooood 🤤 ough divine. Saving this recipe for sure! Shared a cut with the neighbors since it's too much cake for 3 people 🤭 hope they like it!! Ended with leftover frosting too, but I like how it keeps its shape and how rich it is! Will use it to practice piping 👌👀

I made it without frosting cause I just wanted a good chocolate sponge cake. And it was really good on it's own for mild sweetness. Great when paired with icecream, chocolate syrup or blackberry jam

I made a cream cheese instead chocolate cream and it tastes soo good! Less sugar and more milky, 100% recommend to try it

I am so happy to finally find a frosting recipe that doesn't involve a ton of butter or oil and no cream cheese lol😁🤤🥰
@SnagglePussDaCatАй бұрын
well... that's because it's not a buttercream frosting. If you don't make a buttercream frosting, you won't need the butter (or cream cheese... which is kind of an emulsification copout trick anyway, plus the cake has to then be refrigerated or the cream cheese sours at room temperature and the buttercream clumps and tastes rancid).

I stumbled upon this video, largely due to my fondness for the classic movie Matilda. Your eccentric, mystical vibe resonates, transporting me to an era of old-world whimsy. The eclectic, vintage aesthetic and antique attire are captivating. Your unique energy evokes the essence of a bygone era's eccentric showman. Although unconventional, the cake looks stunning. I appreciate how you've woven together nostalgia and intrigue. The quirky style and haunting background music create an immersive experience. I'm also grateful you decided to share the recipe with us, especially since you mentioned you don't typically do so. Oh, how I wish I was there to try this cake! Glad I discovered your channel; looking forward to exploring more content. Great video Now that I’m proofreading my comment I sound old as shit even though I’m far from old you’re odd I love it

I don't know why I'm so skeptical about this... everyone is saying the cake is so good.. not a single comment complained about it... I'm definitely definitely going to make this next weekend, and if it don't turn out good, then I won't be lyin about. Gosh... I'm too curious.

I was skeptical too. but today I tried it and…. Omg…it’s literally perfect. Jsut stay safe on the cutting the cake part cuz I made a mess. It was so moist, idk. I never had a cake this moist. It’s not a bad thing at all. It just means I’m not used to handling moist cakes (but eating them is heavenly). The only ‘downside’ (honestly, idk if I can call it so), is that the icing had perfect flavour, but all the stickiness makes it hard to put on top of the cake. And since the cake is fudgy and moist, it might crumble if you’re not careful. Ehhhh jsut try it. Even the bad parts are good. The taste is top notch. 😊

Reporting back to say thank you for giving this recipe away. I made this and it turned out amazingly. So moist, not too sweet, super fudgy and extremely morish. Amazing recipe and amazing work by yourself. I handed it out to many people all of which said it was the best cake they have ever eaten. Only adjustments I made was to add a bit more salt since I love salty chocolate, and also cooked for around 55 mins due to my oven.

Leaving another comment to say I finally made this cake for my birthday party! It was a MAJOR hit, everyone loved it! I tend to be picky with cake icing, but it was absolutely my favorite part of this cake! Not too heavy, not too sweet, with a perfect pudding-like consistency. Thank you for this recipe!

So I made it today and here's the review; Remember, it's a MOIST cake. Meaning a LOT of oil. The cake is super delicate, it can break way too easily. It may seem a bit mousse like here, but in reality it's just oil. Also, it's a bit too rich for my taste. Sorry it seems like I am just complaining. The thing is, if you are not going for those specific characteristics, you should stick to a more "regular" chocolate cake recipe.

So an unfertilised chicken egg is basically a chicken period and not an unborn chicken since it only contains the hen's dna. Calling an egg an unborn chicken is like calling a period an abortion.

The frosting is the same as my recipe for hot fudge sundae sauce. I just make mine a little thinner (less cornstarch)

I have been craving this since I watched Matilda back in my childhood days. Finally, made this recipe for my birthday. And yes, the cake is sooo rich and yumm. I reduced the sugar in the frosting from 600gm to 550gm but still find the frosting way too sweet for my liking. Maybe next time I will reduce it to 500gm. Other than that, it’s a prefect cake.
