I'm on a kick with Samuel Gawith Squadron leader right now. Almost a daily smoke. Just ordered 8 oz. Burns perfectly down to the last bit of dottle. Highly recommend if you haven't tried it.

A b&m in KY that has good house blends is Straus Tobacconists in Florence KY. Now, I don't know how often if ever you make it to that part of the world, but they are worth a visit even if for just their seasonal blends.

They have some good house aromatics, including a couple seasonal blends: Sleepy Hollow in the fall and Wenceslas at Christmas. That's really the only shop I get to go to regularly. I try to support it when I can. Like you, I struggle to pay the tin prices of $25, but I buy the bulk house blends.

Matt, one of the dudes who runs the place, taught me how to smoke a pipe all those years ago. I've never been to Schwab's. I'll have to check it out next time I'm down there.

If it's any consolation to not buying from B&M I myself have to buy tobacco from Germany to Scotland simply because I can at the very least twice the amount of tobacco as I can in the UK and that's with shipping on top of that. The base price here for a 50g tin of basically anything they have is £20 which at current rate is $25 but anything really premium can easily hit £30 ($38) It's just awful really the amount the UK is taxed on tobacco that in some cases I can buy 2 tins of say EMP for the price of 1 tin over here, Not to mention the hundreds of blends that you just simply cannot buy in the UK for instance Cornell and Diehl unless you are buying from another piper you cannot buy a brand new tin of it in the UK.

@@TheNovicePiper Yeah it's insane that an adult can't simply live their life but at the same time if you are an alcoholic the taxes are pretty lenient and you can also get money from the government to help fund your habit.. There is also another thing that annoys me is I see so many Americans ect smoking blends that have Scottish names like Loch Lommond ect and those are just not a thing here in the country they are named after.

house blends do not sit good in my mouth and i am convinced that the house blends were the cause of my CARDBOARD MOUTH. When i buy tins its like night and day difference the tins are SOOOO GOOD and don't cause me to have chit tasete in my mouth. I will only buy tins from here on out!

I hear you. Some English blends are not English in flavor. Peterson Balkan mixture isn't remotely Balkan. It's really just like a so/so tomatoey vaper. Everyone's taste is unique.

Everyone has a different taste I enjoy both Bayou Night and Bayou Morning. I get these in the bulk firm...could be periqur, latikia or turkish?

@@johnBrett-w6v I suspect the manure taste is coming from perique, because I haven't had much perique and this blend is supposed to have a lot in it. I'm going to do a perique run eventually and now I can't wait to see what happens.
