I’m glad Choc had as much fun with this game as he did. I personally enjoy replaying it. I love the cute and funny interactions and the story the game has. Going through this journey with Choc is like replaying the game but with a friend. Very enjoyable. Keep up the good work!

This is so sad to me because I think kingdom battle is hands down the best turn based tactical out there in my opinion and to see so many people pleased with such a garbage sequel pisses me off. I was so excited for sparks of hope and it was easily my most anticipated game of 2022. It was the biggest disappointment I have ever had in my life. Everything about it was a step down from kingdom battle. I would’ve MUCH rather had a whole games worth of more dlc for kingdom battle than what sparks of hope was. The free move battle system is HORRIBLE and allows for way to many shots to be blocked by random things. Seriously, it felt like almost every time I had a shot lined up from a medium to far distance, it would always be blocked by something. The physics are just terrible and the decision to switch from grid based gameplay to free move has to be one of the worst things they could’ve done. The worlds suck and are so uninspired and bland, ESPECIALLY world 1. I hate the Pokémon-esc change to encountering battles instead of coming across battlefields. I MUCH preferred the areas in kingdom battle where it felt like you were exploring one giant world and progressing through it naturally by coming across battlefields. I loved how they worked each one into the atmosphere because it gave each battle a new look and feel. In sparks of hope, they are all generic battlefields you teleport into by touching any enemy which is awful. Speaking of enemies, the enemies are SOOO uninteresting and boring just like everything else about the game. I wish they had silly introductions to new enemies like in kingdom battle. I really liked the fact that all the enemies in kingdom battle had personalities. The ghost enemies in sparks of hope are just plain boring and even the goon as we’re better in kingdom battle as cute little guys you could see around the over world. The charm of kingdom battle was completely sucked out by all the terrible changes. That Tom Phan song in kingdom battle has to be one of the best things I have ever witnessed in gaming. I loved that shit so much and there is literally nothing like that in sparks of hope. Another complaint is the damage calculation. It SUCKS in sparks of hope. In kingdom battle, the damage calculation was lower so it was easier to figure out the difference in high damage rolls and low damage rolls to gauge whether or not a shot that has a chance to kill is worth it, which is really important in a strategy game like that. In sparks of hope, it’s way too high and you literally just cannot begin to predict a damage roll. I hate the leveling system too. I liked that it was locked to each world in kingdom battle so I never had to grind at all and could just keep going, but NOPE, not in sparks of hope. It felt like they were so focused on making it a “sequel” instead of an “extension” that they changed WAAAAY too much for its own good. Because of this, we will never get another one and it really saddens me because kingdoms battle is probably in my top 3 favorite games of all time and I wanted to love sparks of hope so bad, but I just couldn’t. I didn’t even finish the game that’s how upset I was about it. Anyone who prefers sparks of hope to kingdom battle has terrible taste and clearly doesn’t appreciate the turn based tactical genre. TBT’s should ALWAYS be grid based. That’s just how it should be, and I’m tired of people thinking it’s okay to change such an important part of the genre because it’s not. I’m sorry for going off this hard, but this game deserves it. Rant over, sorry. Oh and also, Beep-o is a girl and idc wtf you or the devs have to say about it. I think secondary weapons would break the game, but new characters with different weapons and abilities would definitely work. But if they did have secondary weapons, you get to choose which to bring to battle, cause once you select, you're stuck with it.

Getting access to a whole new weapon every few Turns would've worked wonders with the Spark system and given the characters some much-needed depth. Here, I've already made examples with all 9 characters for you: *Mario: Melee - 2 Turn Cooldown* - If it ain't broke, don't fix it! - Bonk enemies really, really hard with the classic iron hammer - Deals 2x DMG in a small range *Luigi: Precision - 3 Turn Cooldown* - Don't you hate it when Scopers break your cover and generally ruin your day with their double shots? *Show 'em how it feels!* - Fire a volley of three 0.5x shots in the same Turn for a total of 1.5x DMG! - Now _this_ is a sniping weapon!...But use the Bow in the meantime - this new Precision guzzles energy like Beep-O wishes he could guzzle pumpkin spice coffee in Palette Prime! *Rabbid Mario: Boomshot - 1 Turn Cooldown* - Apparently, they're supposed to be highly accurate mid-range weapons that *Bounce their victims towards the user with explosive ammunition.* Of course, the original Boomshot's micro-explosives kept blowing up while they were INSIDE the barrel! - 0.75x DMG shot that Bounces an enemy closer to Rabbid Mario (effect is similar to the Splash Effect) *Rabbid Luigi: Bworb - 2 Turn Cooldown* - Makes the target Weak To their own Element for 2 Turns! - ...Only 1x DMG, though. *Rabbid Peach: Sentry - 2 Turn Cooldown* - Bullies enemies who thought Cover would save them and lets you take a selfie as the bad guys explode! - Copies 50% of Rabbid Peach's HP, does 1.25x DMG, and moves 75% as far as a Mechakoopa every Turn *Rabbid Rosalina: Blaster - 1 Turn Cooldown* - She couldn't be bothered to make herself another Weapon, so instead she "borrowed" Mario's Blaster. - Look, it's an extra attack with 1x DMG and 20m of range. *Boswer: Fire Breath - 3 Turn Cooldown* - The Megabug tried to possess him again. Keyword: tried. Now that his immune system can burn the glitch alive, his flames can, too! - Why does this get 25m of Range, a 45 degree Spread, 1.5x Burn DMG, AND hit every enemy in it's path? Because this is Bowser. - Reasonably enough, *it can't damage Cover. At all.* I want to love Sparks of Hope as much as Kingdom Battle, but the latter is still superior in terms of overall quality.

I finally got around to watching this series as I just completed this game myself. I did skip out on Kingdom Battle and went straight to this one so not sure how it compares, but I had a good time with Sparks of Hope. I thought the Rabbids would be exceedingly obnoxious and annoying (and they are), but they weren't nearly as bad as I thought. All around, this was a fun and charming adventure. I did hear that Ubisoft wanted to add more Mario Galaxy references and characters, but Nintendo rejected the idea (which is a shame). I do hope we get another Mario + Rabbids game, though.

If there's one thing I have to disagree with you on (other than people who like this game have terrible taste) it's the leveling system. The fact you have to buy weapons for your characters in kingdom battle is definitely the worst part of it. You have to grind for coins if you intend on trying multiple characters out, whereas in sparks of hope, if you ever think 'hey! I haven't tried luigi yet!' you don't have to worry about not being able to buy anything else.

I definitely agree but I feel like given it's specifically crowds he works well with it makes him feel situational I tend to roll with rabbid Mario and Bowser to deal with crowds give rabbid Mario the invisible and reflection spark and just send him in and give Bowser some survivability sparks and you should be golden for most of the time

@@RJam56 oh ok then sorry about that also the reason why I said rude was mostly because like you said “anyone who prefer sparks of hope over kingdom battle have terrible taste and doesn’t appreciate the turn based tactical genre” which sounded rude to me, also the way you worded it sounded like a skill issue for example you said in the rant “it felt like almost every time I have a shot lined up at medium to far distance, it will always get blocked by something” in which you could’ve moved to a different position, also the reason we might not get another game was mostly because of sparks of hope not reaching Ubisoft impossible expectations and besides the phantom already made his comeback in the third dlc called Rayman in the phantom show so yes we did get to see the phantom sing once again. Well despite its flaws there a few things that were good. for example, every hero on your team can be useful for different situations such as protecting your allies to destroying darkmess eyes to defeating all enemies and despite the battle system being slow the sparks do help with turning the tables. The worlds themselves are planets, unfamiliar locations you haven’t seen before like in super Mario galaxy even Tho most of the planets are based around the main four seasons (Summer, Auttum, Winter, Spring) barrande badmess (I don't know how to spell it correctly) was at least a good world. The open world exploration system it isn’t really that bad sense this is a tactical rpg where you can choose rather to battle or not, the camera also moves freely now and not at a 90% angle. even Tho you can't purchase weapons from the shop to deal more damage you can still use coins to purchase items to help out in combat, the level up system does help with gaining more health and dealing more damage and stuff, on the plus side your team also gains exp when there not in battle so you don’t have to grind as much. Also, not every game needs to be an “extension” of the previous game we don’t need another New Super Mario Bros situation. You didn’t have to go that deep man

Rewatching this game through this play though after I played it in February it was so fun and still looks so good the graphics and system got so improved from kingdom battle, didn’t know how much fun i would have being able to move freely instead of a grid where you can’t go back, I never did much of the post game though so maybe I should go back to that

In the beginning I thought to myself that rabbid mario, a melee-fighting character, is absolutely useless in a ranged-combat-game, where you literally stand still after attacking. I mean he literally and unavoidably would die sooner or later in every fight! And then I managed to give him the ability to walk freely after attacking, as well as an insane damage output for the corresponding progression in the game! He was my must-use character since and that was BEFORE I gave him such an insane movement radius on top of that!

@@arachnid9873honestly agreed my personal play is to deck him out with the invisible and reflection spark (I haven't played in a spell so I can't remember my exact build) so he can just Waltz up to the enemies and beat the crap out of them with no consequences something like that

Took me about a month to watch this video, as I was following along this video while playing, and didn’t want get spoiled. A bit sad that I skipped so much side content. There are cool secret bosses as well as summoner sparks. Still a great video

The main thing I wish this game changed was having cursas stronghold take place on a darkness infested comet observatory. Add a few more battles, one on each dome or something, and then have the final cutscene take place on the observatory too.

It’s incredible to me that they: 1. Made a good game out of the dumbest collab/game idea ever (Mario X Rabbids as baby’s first XCOM game, what the hell?) 2. Made a sequel that completely restructured the entire gameplay for the sequel (not a port of the same engine, how often does that happen?) 3. Still made the sequel a good game that might be even better than the first (How?!)

Tbh I just throw on your videos and go to sleep not bc they are bad or boring bc they aren't they are good its just you have a very calm and easy going style most of the time it's just easiest to go to sleep to like I've fr fallen asleep to the worst sonic game video and papper Mario video super cuts like 90 times lmao and I've always wanted to tell you that but other than that the content is definitely amazing and thanks for helping me sleep at night

Just saying that the 3.dlc just dropped.idk if u are already planning for the video or if you just aren’t interested in this dlc but I still suggest u play it since it is a tactical nightmare with rayman (not in a bad way and more like in a too manny things per turn nightmare)
