"Ayubowan" the traditional greeting of Sri Lankans. Ayubowan means "Wishing you a Long Life". In rural Sri Lanka it is customary for guests to be welcomed by village elders. In keeping with this tradition, thirteen of the country's most senior artistes perform a song welcoming the guests from the Commonwealth nations. The song is infused with elements of Sri Lankan folk music. The performance by veteran artistes is complemented by six traditional Sri Lankan dancers performing a welcome dance.
