Choice, i can’t tell you how much i learned from your channel. the main thing? ask. ill walk up to somebody without any hesitation at all. ive caught myself standing by the trailer watching another driver secure because something they were doing intrigued me. when i started driving (van) my grandfather told me “the turtle won the race son, i’ve been out here 35 years. safely, being the turtle. the rabbits don’t last long at all out there”

Never be ashamed on retracing your steps to having a fully secured load when it comes to flat bedding, one mistake can take a life.. Although I have been trucking for 35 years, I have learned from "YOU" (CHOICEMAS) to over securing a load is better than under securing a load. I want to know your daughter is safe driving by me with a loaded flatbed as my daughter is safe driving by you with a loaded flatbed.. When it comes to trucking, it is not all about getting there as quick as you can, but it's about getting there as safe as you can... Piece brother and safe travels!!!

Everything you said was 100% facts. I’m new to flatbed. Coming in the door I knew nothing. I’ve learned and trained myself from your videos and other KZbin videos. My company just threw me out there knowing I really had no experience other than just driving. I’m proud of myself for being able to ask others at shippers or just at the truck stops questions relating to flatbeddiing. But KZbin has trained me , you had and still do train me as others here on KZbin with the videos you all provide. All the information is there, you just have to seek it and really want to learn. Anyway thanks a lot ! Your videos has really strengthened my weaknesses. I only get stronger as I soak up all the videos you provide. Thanks again ! Drive safe out there !

Choice, true truth! Something I learned in my first orientation (@ WE, of all places) “Always drive like it’s your first day.” Your first day you’re hyper-vigilant, super watchful, extremely watchful, super careful. Stay that way. As far as helping each other, I think flat bedders are WAY above other drivers. And I’ve NEVER had a flatbedder refuse to show/teach/advise me. I asked a guy if I could watch him secure his load. After a few minutes, he was explaining why he was doing what. He then stood by and instructed me securing my load.

💯 I was in Appleton Wi at Roehl for training and did my year repayment for school.. You are as honest as can be about Roehl.. I do flatbed for myself now and learnin something new everyday.. Like you say don’t ever be afraid to ask.. It’s better to ask and learn than haul something not knowing if it’s safe or not…

I'll always help anybody. I may not be the best of knowledged, but I strive to be the best and have nothing but the best intentions for safety! That's why I shy away from teaching is because you got all these mega flatbed carriers that make you second guess the correct method of securement because every company has completely different ways of securing the same loads. Everybody is different. TMC you don't have to worry because they strive for excellence, but places like Roehl and others... it makes you stop and think, why are they using straps on chain loads? You're right man we need to seriously come together to train more students. Like you said its like theyr punching out students!

If they do get out before you by being faster and not properly doing the process those are the ones you pass 15 minutes down the road fixing straps or tarps or chains. Slow and steady focused.

The saddest thing is these companies tell their drivers not to listen to other drivers on the road or to ignore what they see on KZbin. I went through Roehl myself. Now leased onto CRST with my own truck and when I went through their orientation, they had training for people with no experience and it was absolutely pitiful. Is every piece of advice given going to be the right way or the legal way? No. But it’s common sense to differ from a guy trying to show you the right way and a guy telling you that train axles only need one chain in the front and back and the middle ones will be good.
