In college I sang in a choir for a semester. Absolutely didn’t get that feeling. I actually didn’t like it. Also when a went to church a few times it pretty much sounds exactly the same. To be fair this choir in the video is not a professional choir where voices are separated and where voices are grouped and different tones sing different parts, instead this is like when people sing at church. Everyone at once. I didn’t really like singing at church either. I get this really bad feeling of group mentality, and “group mood” if such a term exists. I just don’t really like it. When under 10 or so people sing then I like it.

@@mads_fairy1 Yes, but still nobody is wearing anything fancy. It always looks more along the lines of them announcing beforehand, "Just show up in whatever you'd wear in a casual night out on the town and be prepared to sing."

It is actually not a choir they guitarist and conductor go to different places and the choir is actually the spectators even cooler concept. No professionals just people who enjoy music for what it is!!

this always makes me so happy, the energy from the crowd is absolutely incredible. also, what i like about ccc in general is that everyone look so nice and "ordinary", like someone you could just meet on the street and have a conversation with. i don't really know how to describe it, but it makes me feel really good about myself and humanity in general.

I hear the drums echoing tonight But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation She's coming in, 12:30 flight The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation I stopped an old man along the way Hoping to find some long forgotten words or ancient melodies He turned to me as if to say, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you" It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do I bless the rains down in Africa Gonna take some time to do the things we never had The wild dogs cry out in the night As they grow restless, longing for some solitary company I know that I must do what's right As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do I bless the rains down in Africa Gonna take some time to do the things we never had Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do I bless the rains down in Africa I bless the rains down in Africa (I bless the rain) I bless the rains down in Africa (I bless the rain) I bless the rains down in Africa I bless the rains down in Africa (Ah, gonna take the time) Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

That vocal solo at the end by the guitarist literally ruined this for me. The solo is meant to be a tenor falsetto piece not a baritone bop. The guitaring was already bad. He thinks he is good but every single one of the singers is better. This didn't even need a guitar. I am angry because this is 99 percent great.

I know this is an older vid, but it came up in my feed, and I watched while reading thru the comments and it struck me that many of the comments were about how they looked "ordinary" and just like "normal" people. And that's cos they ARE ordinary...... all choirs are full of normal ordinary people. Coming together to sing..... that's extraordinary, both the experience and the sound, but it's an experience everyone can, and should have. Singing is intrinsic to being human... ALL humans sing, and should be encouraged to sing. It's good for us, it's good for those listening... and hopefully, they'll give in to the urge to sing too. Singing is pure music.
