There’s something particularly moving about this rendition of “Zombie”. Already a powerful song about the senselessness of violence and how it claims innocent lives, hearing it get sung by a chorus somehow gives this song even more power, because it imbues the song with a sense of collective passion, which I believe Dolores o’Riordan wanted people to feel all along. we actually sing this song pretty often in our music class (I'm living in austria) an you can actually hear a classroom full of students singing this song in the lunchbreak but everyone sings it because they think it's a great song and don't quiet understand the meaning or actually are making fun out of the meaning and just like to shout zombie on top of their lungs because they haven't got anything else to do...I think that's really sad because our teachers notice this stuff happening but never even tried to explain the song and the backround...

I remember me hearing this song the first time and I did the same (maybe I was 13 years old), didn't understand the meaning of the lyrics. Years later i heard it again and was like "oh wow, its rly sad", it made me think about the topic and i couldn't hear this for years cause it made me sad.
