It was written after the Irish Republican 'Army' attacked and murdered children outside a McDonald's Restaurant in Warrington in Northern England in early 1993. Ironically, an Irish immigrant population of England. You couldn't make the stupidity of it all up really.

There’s something particularly moving about this rendition of “Zombie”. Already a powerful song about the senselessness of violence and how it claims innocent lives, hearing it get sung by a chorus somehow gives this song even more power, because it imbues the song with a sense of collective passion, which I believe Dolores o’Riordan wanted people to feel all along. Rest in power Dolores, and may you continue to inspire others to end violence wherever they are.

we actually sing this song pretty often in our music class (I'm living in austria) an you can actually hear a classroom full of students singing this song in the lunchbreak but everyone sings it because they think it's a great song and don't quiet understand the meaning or actually are making fun out of the meaning and just like to shout zombie on top of their lungs because they haven't got anything else to do...I think that's really sad because our teachers notice this stuff happening but never even tried to explain the song and the backround...
@Claddaugh665 жыл бұрын
@@ch.s.5180 I understand your opinion that the teacher should explain it. But it's a good way that you sing it so "care free" cause you like the song. I remember me hearing this song the first time and I did the same (maybe I was 13 years old), didn't understand the meaning of the lyrics. Years later i heard it again and was like "oh wow, its rly sad", it made me think about the topic and i couldn't hear this for years cause it made me sad. What i want so say is, everyone has their own time to understand a song and the meaning behind this. I think, when your schoolmates grow older they will realise and sing it with other intentions ^^
