What about the things that actually happened to innocent Iraqi civilians who were targeted, killed and even tortured as revealed by these leaks that Assange helped expose? You unfortunately have a very sick and distorted way of trying to completely revise the critical points on this issue all while masquerading your point as phony concern. Address why hundreds of thousands of Iraqis had to die in an illegal war while many were outright targeted and tortured and then we can talk about the risk. Do you cower at the idea of exposing a mobster because his associates may threaten the jury? You expose criminals for what they are. Thats how a just world should function.

Kirk Moore the current indictment is over the leaks that Manning gave to Assange. That classified info showed that US gov officials were responsible for war crimes. I support exposing war criminals. If the indictment was about what you were talking about my position would be different. We can't act like vindictive children on these matters. We may not like someone's character or previous actions but if they are charged and arrested for something in an unjust manner we all need to oppose it. Say for example instead of assisting Trump in the election Assange had actually murdered an innocent person. If the current indictment was still over the manning leaks I would support his release as I do now. However if the indictment was over a murder then I would support his arrest.

JULIAN ASSANGE “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act”. George Orwell “The Way of Truth is the Pathway to the Eternal Godhead”. Jesus Christ “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free”. Jesus Christ “The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives”. Albert Einstein This great man is of such worth and importance for the planet and humanity as a whole, in this “Age of Ego”, splitting the core of history’s main living branch to become a new bright cornerstone and a cultural reference point. Julian Assange has not only helped share the global system's "vast movement of self-interests" in work for the elite through Wikileaks, but has also shaped and shown us the only means people have to fight injustice and inequality and the insensitive, immoral, inhumane, selfish and heartless way the planet is being run today is by opening the secret vaults of corruption, raising awareness on the matters and strengthening the bond between people through the Internet. Civilisation has to move forward and get over this sordid moment and there is no time to lose. The Status Quo’s exquisitely planned system is so well set up for the well-being of those who belong to it, that the only way to counter-balance this evil cyst is to become one great collective entity with help of the web; just like a great big flash mob to acquire higher conscience and power. Where is Assange? Are the bells tolling for his return? Or are they ringing for the world's last great people's movement to begin? Humanity won’t probably be able to find many authentic heroes as he soon. It’s seems it’s our turn now but as a “whole”. If most of mankind is living miserably, most in permanent poverty, sacrificing life for survival under a system that clearly doesn’t work for the larger part of humanity, total openness has to be demanded in this supposedly democratic world. Society and Nature, both undoubtedly damaged, require the total aperture of everything. There’s no need for further mystery on any matter, what any governmental institution may know or does, has to be within the public dominion. Everywhere. All private companies have to comply with the government`s laws and the technical and scientific standards developed for these issues (understood as popular agreements for the well-being of all). Limits to growth in every aspect of human development or intervention have to be applied. Big is no longer better. Nature’s steep gradual decline because of the selfish over-exploitation of the earth, irresponsibly polluting water and air, as if they were endless resources, by a few monstrously big companies cannot be accepted or permitted; all public or private institutions this size have to be understood as “horrible cases of gigantism”. Big isn’t beautiful anymore. Big is selfish, big is inefficient, big is uncomfortable, big isn’t handy in this age where people have already opened up to the holistic understanding that mankind is just a part of greater system. People’s dependence on unjust salaries and wages that in the end prove to be a waste of a lifetime, in order to produce angst and sadness, is what the Master Plan of modern economic and financial slavery brings, added to the disappearance and extinction of this astoundingly unique and endemic biological Eden in which we live in, will put in doubt the purpose of life itself. If existence, progeny and legacy, are to be forcefully denied due to the “out of law” behaviour of those few "fellow humans" who believe they can drive the world at mankind’s expense for their own pleasure and benefit, all of us can certainly join in and gentlemanly lead them to their already built hiding places forever. I do believe in my soul and that of a collective soul too. In fact I believe there is powerful reason for the world to be living these hardships today, and that is to grow as an integral, holistic system; God, expressed as the "self-guiding conscious plan" in which everything falls into, is the reason. There's no way out from fate, it happens because it has to. What we can do as responsible human beings, is to collectively speed up the process of change by sharing, teaching and understanding the nature of the oppression as an anomaly. It is shameful to accept the state of the world and do nothing about it. S.O.S planet earth S.O.S planet earth S.O.S planet earth Carlos E. Calle B. desde Colombia

@@kirabarsmith9353 I did NOT say it was a vice. Why are you acting so stupid?? Anything can be abused. Too little water we die of thirst, too much we drown. You seem very defensive. I wonder why. My advice to be moderate and is perfectly good advice that insults no one. I was part of the original legalize movement from 1969, a generation that got bashed, arrested and our heads clubbed in for it. However I also don't want to see young people thinking that now it is legal that abuse is cool. I have known people who ruined their lives by just smoking until as I had warned them they had to quit. I still smoke and love it but I am healthy and have self control, It's called being mature. You should try it.

Although the respect that I have for Chomsky, i couldnt disagree more with his views about Lula. He isnt in the same spectrum as Assange or even Chaves/Maduro. The labor party failed to prosecute and condemn its own members involved in corruption, including Lula, and thats the main reason why they lost the last elections. The majority of the people dont trust them anymore. Lula is not in solitary confinement and gives interviews all the time, that was an incorrect assessment and inaccurate representation of the reality. There was a big boom in Brazilian economy in the early 2000's influenced by China's growth and the high prices of commodities, to deny the labor party efforts to diminish poverty is a mistake, but to credit them for all the achivements of that time is misleading aswell since most of the social programs already existed. Im simplifying too much, but the majority of the Brazilian's population dont support Bolsonaro either, he was elected by the same kind of effect that elected Trump in the US. The absolute void and lack of commitment for the people that was promised but never fulfilled by the supposedly left parties.
@LawrenceCarroll12345 жыл бұрын
Daniel Fox , your assessment sounds intriguing. But without any links to supporting articles or books it is impossible to know how accurate your assessment is. There are so many outlets out there, of course. And though it is often easy to spot outright frauds, it gets harder as you try to zoom in more closely. Certainly Brazil (& Latin America as a whole) have suffered immensely because of US intervention in the past century. This is born out by the US support for the countless authoritarian dictatorships it has supported and often even installed. That is obvious. But what isn’t always so clear is how good the “leftist” or alternative leaders have been (a good current example is the Nicaraguan situation - there was a good debate recently on DN! about whether or not the Sandinista government has betrayed its original mission or not.). But one thing IS CLEAR beyond question- US interventions are almost always very bad news, whether the alternative parties always live up to their reputation as good or not. I cannot see how they could come even remotely close to being as bad as the puppets the US consistently supports.
@dandeoliveira5 жыл бұрын
@@LawrenceCarroll1234 I most certainly agree with your points and the only thing that I disagree with Chomsky is his views about Lula trial and conditions. Its very hard to find good news coverage about the ocurrings in Brazil, is necessary to filter a lot of information to have a better picture of the situation. Im not trying to convince people of my views as random internet user, but to not take those views for granted and to try and seek these informations by yourself, its publicly available. This isnt the optimal place to have this discussion, as most will be left off, but Its easy to see though that Lula has a lot more indulgences than a normal criminal would have in any other place in the world. The documents and allegations about his case are mostly open (the ones already charged) to all and they are undeniable. The operation that culminated in his prison was one of the largest criminal investigations in the world, and end up with hundreds of persons in prison, including top politicians and even the owner of one of the largest construction company in the world, as many others in the private sector. I absolutely abhor US foreign policies and involvemnts around the world. The sight of a close relation between Brazil and the US is feared by most of the population, but was ultimately caused by the failings of Lula and the labor party. For a country to elect someone as awful as Bolsonaro, something is terribly wrong with the opposition.
@LawrenceCarroll12345 жыл бұрын
Daniel Fox , 🙏🏼. As you observe, the Left has excellent journalistic and historic integrity usually, but it also can - and the right does more often probably - oversimplify at times. I too think Chomsky is excellent.
