Let it play out. The playoffs will tell us who needs to go... From coaching to which players need to be replaced. We NEEDED and WANTED to see THIS GROUP and be able to make the hard decisions that come with fielding a competitive NBA roster. We literally are in the midst of what most fans hoped for... A quality team (deepest roster arguably) making a definitive playoff push with aspirations of realistically contending for a championship. I THINK we have that currently. Let's see them against the field... With Zion, now we have a punchers chance to do damage. At the end of the day, these are good problems to have. Means the Pels are NOT cellar dwellers looking for the lottery ball gods to build a roster. Been there... Time to contend.

This team is ready now... but the coaching philosophy is killing them... #1. This is the NBA.. All professionals.. Too much zone defense leaving open 3 point shooters. Especially when games are close in the 4th. More importantly, how can u watch Golden State all these years and learn nothing. Everyone has to move without the ball. We play 1 on 1 and watch with 4 guys standing behind the 3. Nobody goes for the rebounds.. Lastly, we only have 2 guys who can get to the hole. When closing out close games other teams go to the hole. We shoot jumpers. Its a easy fix. I love our coach, BUT HIS PHILOSOPHY IS THE PROBLEM.

Karlo Maktovic should be with the team for the remainder of the season. Shot blocker and rim runner. Would be great to pair him with Zion and Jose on a fast paced offensive lineup to stretch the floor and rim run. He shot 63.5% overall and 37% from 3 which are pretty decent numbers from a big but he also average 2.8 blocks and 1.3 steals. 15.6 ppg , 7.2 Rebounds, 0.8 assist.
@davidwymer824411 ай бұрын
For BI and Zion working we need improvement from both. BI should shoot around 5 3’s a game. Jake keeps wanting BI to become TM3 or CJ shooting 7-10 a game. BI needs and should have the ball in his hand attacking off the dribble and forcing double teams. He is too good of a passer to have him be a spot up shooter. Also BI typically gets hot from mid range then starts feeling it and bombs away from 3. Completely changing him to a 3 point shooter first and mid range master 2nd isn’t an easy transition. Look at LeBron, KD, Kawahi all take 5-5.4 3’s a game. That is the sweet spot for BI. Zion has to e -and his game to the mid range. We are never going to win anything with a 6-6 at the rim scorer only. By shooting and making mid range shots it opens up pick and short role, forces defenders to actually guard Zion in the mid range and lose a up the wall in front of him. If Zion doesn’t expand his game he absolutely needs to play more center and defend at the 5 position well. Zion at the 5 will only work consistently if we are also able to get stops and Zion being good defensively at the 5.
@philturner474911 ай бұрын
Its a bit ridiculous to comment on the starters appearing clunky. They are still young and seeking their team groove. BI, Zion & CJ have not played together for more than half a season so far. Plus, BI and Zion have not stayed healthy long enough through extended stretches to support an opinion on their ultimate chemistry. Teams have limited Zion's impact by clogging the lanes and forcing him to dish out to shooters, but should Zion develop a reliable mid-range shot, this team immediately has a new ceiling. Ongoing player development, which includes bench players growth, may be the best direction for our ultimate playoff run. Marquis players are always just one injury from becoming mere cheerleaders, so let us develop the bench, refine our coaching development and allow our young team to build character and chemistry. Growth, or the lack thereof, will show if we have the right horses pulling the wagon!!
@Deepmarlin357911 ай бұрын
I think we’re past the point of finding the grove. Bi isn’t that young. He’s average age for the NBA. I think all the bonding that will happen has happened. We need to see mentality shift. BI being more aggressive, Zion not being so fickle about media opinions. Most of all the team needs an identity and I think people see the 2 leaders BI and Z not taking charge. Same issue we had with Jrue and AD. We’re in the best spot we can be givin the standings and hope they see success together cause I’d hate to watch either BI or Z play against us and destroy us if they get traded lol

The fact those 2 were not all stars this year - tells you what you need to know. We are paying ALL-STAR MONEY for guys who are middle of the pack. Why I say that because all of our stars max potential is reliant on other players picking up their slack. Ingram & zion have to be surrounded with defenders because they need others to pickup their slack on defense, lack of shooting & they barely rebound.. There was no need to keep this team together! The Lakers game was an exact reason why we should have made a trade!! -JV too slow & cant protect the rim -Zion cant play defense, doesnt shoot the 3 on high enough volume to be effective so all his layups dont mayter if he not getting to the foul line .. -Ingram - cant defend, barely gets to the foul line, knows he should be shooting more 3s and doesn’t & our starting 5 have a negative net rating all year long something need to change On top of we still have spurts where we have trouble scoring! We dont dominate any category in the NBA. Not 3s, Not paint, not pace, not scoring - we ok with being middle of the pack

One point I was hoping to hear in this discussion regards BI's next likely contract level, which seems to me to be an important factor in this discussion. If the Pels don't make it out of the playin (which is possible given the quality of teams between 7 and 10), would they be willing to invest max money on BI's next contract? If so, great. If not, what could they get for him in a trade and what is the optimum time to do that?

A starting veteran Point Guard will cure all ills. Move CJ; preferably to the bench, at worst in a trade. Pursue Nick Claxton at Center, and offer JV to stick around on a smaller contract, and a lesser role. The only problem with BI and Zion is that they lack True Grit; they don't have enough dawg in 'em. They don't make the hustle plays often enough. Give me some rebounds, some blocks, some put-back slams. BI is too lengthy to not have more double-digit rebound games. Zion is too massive to miss shots due to finger-rolling and kissing the ball off of the glass. Get three-pointers the olde-fashion way, with And Ones. Eventually these two are going to learn to play that way if they want to be All-NBA. I'd rather them learn to do it here, than on another team.
@madisonbordenave486911 ай бұрын
It’s not time to break them up yet. I think BI’s game is actually very similar to Khris Middleton, and I actually see that as BI’s ceiling. Zion’s offensive game is actually very similar to Gianni’s and i think he has a much higher offensive ceiling especially when in shape. The problem is CJ. He’s great and he adds a ton to this team, but for whatever reason when him and Zion are on the court together the team is losing. He and Zion have the worst point differential of any duo and the combination of BI, Zion, and CJ is the worst on the team. The pels need to either get a real point guard or limit the amount of time CJ and Zion spend on the court together. I think that is how they improve this season and next

At points, the offense looked unstoppable, but having a rough patch on offense, but still has won 7 of last 8 games. Willie & the team will tighten up by Playoff time, and if the collapse, then let’s talk about this. Until then the 3 Superstars are doing just fine. #FlockAnonymousExecs #FlockAroundAndFindOut #FlockUp

The center position is not the problem between Zion and BI. They have never connected since day 1. The Pelicans announcing BI last at the beginning of the game was when they screwed up. BI is a good/great player but he is not that dude. Zion is that dude. They will never play great together. I'm a Zion fan so I'm good with whoever they trade. Pelicans are not winning a championship with BI and Willie Green period. Everybody knows this....

It depends what you want from the team. Teams that win championships go into the luxury tax bc eventually you will need to overspend for a ring. History has shown this owner won't do that so just keep them together for now until we're ready to be a loser again. Then trade both and do a full rebuild

Is Zion really not going to shoot in his career? If he could space for BI they’d be better
@nathan387411 ай бұрын
Space for BI?? Are you serious.... Zion and Giannis are the top two players in the league in the paint. BI is not top 10 in ANYTHING!!!! There are 20 BI's in the league and 1 Zion... BI got to go, and take CJ with him...
