Happy New Year!! You look amazing, love your top , so festive!!I have a 1995 Safari, that I wear, just for the nostalgia. So true that we were so used to strong openings back then. I would like to smell the current formulation. I would like to try Xerjoff Opera, your description sounds beautiful. My fragrance for tonight is Kayali Vanilla Royal, and having a relaxing night at home. 🎉💜🧧🎊🥳

Thank you, what a nice comment. I just sprayed on Splendida Jasmine Noir by Bulgari and noticed that the opening was just fantastic, but the performance was really weak. Didn't get much projection at all. Need to press my nose to my skin to detect it.

Happy New Year! I wore Estee Lauder Desert Eden (its a patchouli and rose combo) on New Year’s Eve and today here in the UK on New Year’s Day I am wearing Mon Guerlain! My signature perfume is Kenzo Flower-it is so magical and special to me. Always appropriate. Xxxxxxx

Great signature fragrance! I have never tried or heard of Desert Eden. But am in general a little tired of patchouli and rose combinations. I do like Estée Lauders older classic perfumes! My sister used to wear Beautiful and Knowing.

Drenched in Torino 21, I was spending New Year’s Eve on sofa watching Dinner for One and Skansens bell ringing. Best New Year’s Eve on my 47 year old life so far! I guess I needed some rest from people, work and festivities. 🤷‍♀️

Happy New Year, you looked lovely in your festive dress. Since you mentioned Flower by Kenzo, a similar one I would recommend is Donna Karan Cashmere Mist (quite addictive and beautiful). I will be wearing Houbigant Iris de Champs for New Year. This is best Iris fragrance ever made in my humble opinion.

Our weather on Christmas Day was mid 20c here in South Australia, so I wore YSL Lavalliere. Had a quiet NYE at home, weather was much warmer, so I chose a fresh fig, Carven Paris Santorin. Happy New Year everyone 🥂😎🇦🇺

@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 Yes, some rose in there, with a little fig, black currant and bergamot at the start. Rose, Geranium and jasmine in the middle, with vetiver, cashmere and musk. Nice for warm weather. Haven’t tried it in the cooler months yet. I’m really enjoying your content Kicki. Found you from a comment by Cherie at Top Note😃🇦🇺

You look beautiful Kicki. What a fun party idea. As you were explaining it I knew that from my collection that I’d probably choose to wear my vintage Opium, even if I thought someone else might make the same choice. And I know myself enough to know that I wouldn’t be able to resist going with the vintage Dior Addict. That said, Opera sounds great too. That’s definitely on my “to test” list. As far as the Safari goes, that is a fragrance that is indelibly stamped in my memory from when I first smelled it 1990 and bought the whole line. The circumstance of how I came to first smell Safari and first saw it’s gorgeous bottle makes it a fragrance that if I described the timeline of my life in fragrances, I would have to include it. So that means I’m probably too biased, but my impression of the reformulation is that they could have done worse. It not great in that it doesn’t have the clarity and the brightness and the power of the original- they fogged and muddied it up some, and it’s lost some of its beauty, but I don’t want to use the “butcher” word on it either. I just can’t. I own the current iteration and like you, I wear it and I still enjoy it. They could’ve done worse is what I’ll say. I agree with you that it still makes a good New Years Eve fragrance. I think of it as a perfume that Meryl Streep as Baroness Karen von Blixen (née Dinesen) would have worn in Out of Africa at one of the parties she went to or while making love to Robert Redford under the nets in her boudoir. Ok , I’m getting carried away- time to go. Happy New Year to you and your family, and all the best in your new job and new chapter in 2024.

I relate to your struggle with New Year's Eve. I usually go to the bathroom just before midnight and come out around 12:15. But you're getting out and enjoying the evening, with a plan to do something fun and fragancy. I like that you're not a fragrance snob and recommend Safari and Kenzo Flower. I tried Flower a few weeks ago when I passed through a Duty Free. I plan to buy a 50 ml. tester from Fragrance Buy, where it's cheaper. Now I want to try Safari. Happy New Year and congrat's on getting the job.

Smiling at your New Years' routine. I could have actually done that yesterday. We didn't have to go outside. A lot of people went out on a balcony to see fireworks, but I stayed inside. It was too cold. I ended up wearing Dior Addict and I felt like a million bucks. We never did the perfume game unfortunately.

First of all, you look so nice! i hope tonights party will be great! I have been sick almost the whole Christmas, some stomach bug, so I did not wear much perfume at all, but I used some perfumed bodycream from Diptyque, Philosykos. I never liked this perfume, but now I really crave fig for some reason. Tonight I feel quite well again, so I wear the perfumed bodylotion and Ouverture from Xerjoff on top. I think I got noseblind, because I can not smell it at all, and I sprayed a lot😂Happy new year!!🎆✨

Thank you! I haven't tried Overture from Xerjoff in a long time! Need to revisit that. I never get cravings for fig, but that note can really work in some fragrances. Tried Ashoka from Neela Vermeire?

What a shame to fall Ill over this holiday period, it’s difficult to avoid with the craziness of the lead up. Last year my Wife and I spent the lead up to Christmas at the Ice Hotel in Northern Sweden, I know there’s many now on the similar theme. What struck us was the beautiful fresh cuisine. Christmas this year for me was Serge’s Fille en Aguille, it was a fitting wear. For the party tonight I’m going with Organza Indecence- Givenchy as that’s the mood I’m in. Same here with the New Year, I carry memories of previous New Year’s Eves, with a mixture of sadness, appreciating the moment along with a view to making next year a great year.
