Choosing A Grading Company For My Personal Collection PSA, SGC, CGC, Or Beckett Who Do You Choose?

My NFL Football card collection is something I would like to display and using the same slabs would make it look even better. Will SGC being bought by PSA change my decision?

Joe from Mike's Retro Trading Cards here...nice video. I really like your choice here. Not caring about resale makes the decision easier IMO. CGC has the nicest slabs, bar none. I would have considered going SGC for your vintage cards and CGC for your modern/ultra modern which would give you some consistency but if you want to have everything completely the same, CGC is a solid choice. In terms of UV protection, if you have cards with autos that you plan to display, get some slabmags. Dustin has a code you can use for either 5 or 10 percent off. I don't use them for everything but my high-end and autos that I display I do. Fun video and good luck on the reveal!

Great video! I’m currently deciding what I want to do for my collection as far as grading now. I’ve been leaning towards SGC but I haven’t made up my mind. I’ll have to look at CGC for sure! Thanks for sharing this!

I've spent some time checking out all of the companies and even ordered a couple of cards in CGC slabs to check out the new ones. I'm sold on CGC. I think they are going to be around for awhile.

Since you collect instead of sell, CGC is a good choice!

Another thing that is overlooked when evaluating card grading companies is their authentication guarantee. The last time I checked, SGC and Beckett do not offer such a guarantee. PSA and CGC do. The difference is PSA's guarantee does not cover the submitter of the card; CGC does. What this means is, if you submit a card and PSA authenticates it, then later you learn the card is counterfeit, you're not covered as the submitter, even though PSA authenticated the card. Only if you sell that card to a 3rd party, then that 3rd party can benefit from PSA's guarantee. CGC covers the submitter and any 3rd party that might purchase the graded card. #TheHobbyist

thanks for the video, i use cgc and the slabs to me (being a newish collector) are the best looking. i also agree with you, slab to display is the idea. the red label to me reminds me of red ink on a P&L statement. so seeing red on my walls is a put off, the black goes with everything. i also created a website to show off my collection to the public and the images from cgc are really good and they look great online.

Thanks for bringing up the UV protection. It’s not brought up in the area we live in much. We primarily use PSA for our slabs , I think it’s because out here at our card shows that is what most people are looking for. We collect and flip. The flip part is to finance our channel mostly.

My favorite is BGS because of the subgrades. But the best looking slab is SGC. I used to have that same EARL CAMPBELL in a BVG just like yours. I wish I kept it along with my 1976 Payton BVG 8.5 which I sold for double what I paid for. Have a great weekend.

TAG is cool. They only do modern standard cards. I think they are cool though for sure.

@@helmetsnhashmarks I believe in TAG in valuable grading company. With there transparency on the grade report. It will show you every flaw on the card….. PSA, SGC nor CGC offers that detail report on the card and show you where each flaw is on the scan of the card. Very important information
