I've got one of savage fab's 62/67/9s on my 2nd gen. I only have good things to say about it. Worked great as a single, and it's even better now that i've got a 75/96/1.15 underneath of it.

The in depth dyno comparisons are always the best to watch man, thankyou for taking the time to document all aspects of the pulls you do and the adjustments you do Also honourable mention to Bradley the turbo whisperer. He's an absolute wealth of knowledge on turbo charging and airflow after watching his channel Your shop playlist is killer, always got the best tunes going haha. Cheers from Aus

If you make a custom downpipe that allows the wastegate to flow straight out instead of hit the wall the hx35 setup works really well actually

Nice video brother. I found all the info real instructive. I'm considering a 60/64/12 for mine but still researching. Not looking to make crazy hp, just around 350-400. Want it more for reliable towing, so I'm concerned about egt's. From what I've been reading, this set up seems to be a good option. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Love the Contant some great information on turbos and housings are you running this on a ported head or a stock head what style injectors and what timing and is it a stock crank and a stock cam I know some engines will spool better than others what size of washer is on the injector nozzle allowing the nozzle to get further in the bowl, a five hole injector gives a little more torque than a six or a seven hole seven holes, gonna be more higher RPM versus torque And there’s two different styles of nozzles There’s about 1000 different combinations, It’s crazy how much information out there but you don’t see a lot of people testing it all depends on the compression of the cylinders I know you have a lot done to that motor and injection pump
@bcbloc028 ай бұрын
If you notice his peak horsepower is at 2900-3000rpms. That is way higher than a stock long block setup will be peaking so for people putting these turbos on non modified trucks the results will be substantially less. Good news is the curves should basically just shift left and down but they likely will track the same on any 5.9.

I would like to know what governor spring you have on that I have a 3800 RPM and a Hungry Diesel I’ve got with you. Call it a deal you put in from the top of your pump.

Its a clipped 3800 spring in mine. If I run it way out it turns just over 4200 rpm

Thinking about EGTs. I have a non intercooled truck. Should i stay away from any of theses upgrades because of higher EGTs?
@GavinHuke8 ай бұрын
No matter what charger you go with you are going to have high egts with a non ic truck, these turbos would help in your case assuming you have a stock turbo anyways right now
@savagefabrication7958 ай бұрын
Hopefully this kinda helps. It’s not as bad as you think it should be without a intercooler. But. When you see what your missing out in when it comes to the mass airflow consumed by the engine with one, it helps with motivation to intercool either with a injectable or standard air to air cooler. Essentially intercooling is going to crank up your afr with no increase in boost or drive pressure via air temp. The equation is (works in any order) Engine normally aspirated cfm X pressure ratio X the weight of the air per one cubic foot. If you have 100* of air temp per 10 psi , And a 5.9 at 2,000 rpms and 30 psi gauge. Without a intercooler you would have 187 X 3.04 X .052 = 29.5 lbs minute. Changing nothing but the intercooler or injection water to bring it down to 100*, instead of .052 you have .07. Which changes the output to 39.7 lbs minute. Say your injecting 2lb of fuel a minute you have effectively changed the afr from 15-1 to 20-1 which would equate a fair reduction in egt’s, smoke opacity, and should result in a gain in power due to less rich zones in the combustion chamber. Kinda the only ways around intercooling is rpm and a oversized charger but you still start to run into mass flow friction heating even at lower boost levels. This starts to get into adiabatic temperature rise. Jason sands I think is a awesome example of how far just water injection can go :)
