Nice conversation, I use the zoom R20 because I can record eight channels simultaneously or four stereo. Also it’s priced affordably and has built in controls of all kinds.+ it can be used as a standalone digital recorder.

its called a BRC. its the controller for the ADAT tape machines

@@DL-1 they sound good, but tape isn't as editable like a DAW, this is why almost every studio reverted to using a DAW like Pro-Tools,

That makes sense to buy one if you don't already have an interface. Did it come with ASIO drivers and a sound routing system? Did your daw pick it to and route your audio in and out through it? If so, that's cool. But here's a question, you have an avalon preamp right? How much tube coloration is too much in your productions? What's it gonna sound like on the back end of the process? What's the noise level on the mixer?i still haven't hooked up my interface because I'm not recording anything yet. Just curious. I'm sorry if I'm peppering you with too many questions. yes My DAWs saw it, I did have to install the mixer drivers not asio because its already installed.

Whats a good small format console/mixer. I don't need to upgrade my interface situation but id like the pre amps and eq channels

if you want something a bit bigger with more channel count you can look at the Tascam model 24
