Great suggestion about cutting out the zipper and doing laces instead! I've been worrying about finding boots without zippers, it's nice to know there are options even if the boot /does/ have a zipper 🙏🙏🙏

Speaking for the women of the world, no, you CANNOT have your tall boots back as a men's-only thing. But I'm certainly willing to share them. Here's to reform in men's boot fashion! (and women's pockets, but that's a whole 'nother discussion). I nearly laughed aloud when you pulled out your favorite pair of boots. I have a very well-worn pair of that exact same style of Tevas that I wore to renfaire last Saturday. They are now sitting on the porch with a nice coating of mud. I will say that the lining is coming apart, but that they've lasted for years, and for at least one year of nearly daily wear working at used bookstore, which involved all sorts of scuffing around on the floor wrangling with books and boxes on low shelves, and general abuse of the leather. For some reason, I've never felt the need to artificially distress them...

Speaking for all the TALL women of the world, the men seem to have already taken tall boots back from us, since it is now clear to me that this is probably why I see all the large women's sizes of tall boots being sold out like everywhere.

A pair of boots that work well for me with any costume just about are 19th century style gun fighter boots by abilene. Well worth the money and has the right look to be able to work well with 17th-19th century and fantasy costumes like game of thrones or dark souls.

adrienne peebles I’ve tried that, but it is usually just uncomfortable. I highly recommend a leather Teva boot for the best combo of hiking and look.

Bruh, when you're a larper, people will already think you're weird anyway regardless of that fashion choice; so why not just go wear the tall boots you want? Buck the trend. Live your best life. People might even envy your courage and boldness for doing that.

Unfortunately I don't have any specific recommendations there. If you have sabatons, it probably does not matter as much because you won't actually see the boots.

It makes me kinda sad that you didn't mention this in the video. A lot of people buying leather shoes for larp and stuff are gonna be first time owners of leather shoes. A lot of them don't know how to properly maintain them (oiling, waxing, that kind of stuff)
