Thank you, Susan, for the amazing tips on Pastel papers. I'm enjoying your videos. I'm a Collage artist, but I want to expand my creativity. I have a set of Pastel chalk sticks which I've had for a few years and never used.

418SurferGirl YAY!!!! I can’t believe it, I’m so excited! I often get teased about my mispronunciation of certain words from other languages.... but I just have to laugh about it. LOL!!! So glad I finally got one right.

Thanks for all that info on paper types. I think just starting on canson would work for me. Maybe try the gesso on water color paper soon.

I didn't mention another paper in my video called, Art Spectrum Colourfix. It comes in packages of 10 like the Canson, and it's slightly more expensive, but it's also a great pastel surface. Happy Painting! Here is a link for both options: www.dickblick.com/products/art-spectrum-colourfix-coated-pastel-paper/ www.dickblick.com/products/canson-mi-teintes-assorted-color-packs/

Awesome video! If you're using a pastel board, do you need the backing board when framing? And where do you get the mi-tientes touch paper in smaller sizes?

I think I just found someone who can talk faster than I do and make it sound relaxing. Where as I, when I talk at that speed,, sound like a deranged chipmunk on helium :P

I definitely did not feel that watercolor paper (the cotton stuff) was cheap, until I started shopping for pastel papers 😂🤣

Hi, @jennw6809. Here is a list in my Amazon Shop of some pastel painting products I recommend for beginner pastel artists. I hope this helps! Happy Painting! www.amazon.com/shop/monetcafewithartistsusanjenkins/list/2NY2AMTL7D050?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ons_list_d

Hi! I love your videos! I am confused about the mat boards at my local art store. They have many different thicknesses. What should I take? Thank you😊
@monetcafe6 жыл бұрын
The thickness is really just a personal choice. The ones I use are pretty much a standard thickness and fairly sturdy, but if you have to buy them I would just get what is cheap. Of course if you can find free scrap pieces then the thickness really doesn't matter. :)

Hi Susan.. how do u chose a color for the background of a painting? If it was to be for an animal ? Or an underpainting? And how do u choose which color of paper ?

Carol Ferguson ...... hi Carol, I’ve still got some UArt Paper, but I’m going through it quickly. It’s such a GREAT pastel surface! I need to get some larger pieces of UArt dark though. I’m so glad to be painting and making videos again!

PS if you want the Grit for a Gesso surface any craftstore sells that. Don't buy that in an art store it will save you a ton of money. Me Im just starting and playing. So I have a Gesso and a Texture paste. If you want more Grit I recommend you testout an assortment of Texture paste; As far as I know that does not come in a clear YET; the gesso indeed does. I only need to get me a fixative that does not change the colors. I dont need it on pastelmat but on cheaper papers I think I would like one.
