Hey Aaron, nothing wrong with that. You can certainly perform encap cleaning and/or bonnet cleaning with a rotary machine. All of these machines provide varying levels of agitation to the carpet. They can all get the job done.

Any experience with a HAWK GLIDE FREEDOM. it is a forward motion rotary machine, basically a floor buffer dual speed that goes forward instead of side to side. The head flips up like a cimex. I believe it's even triple planetary.

Hawk makes some nice machines. In fact we've spoken with them in the past about selling their equipment. Their internal gear system (like most rotary machines) is what is "planetary" - not the scrub heads. So it's not going to scrub like a Cimex. Yet, it's still a very good rotary floor machine, and if you decide to get one I would assume that you'll be pleased with it.

We don't have a video specifically for steps. However you could use a Drill Driver and an 8" bonnet for stairs (works great). www.excellent-supply.com/products/8-drill-driver There really isn't a way to effectively encap pet urine. We'd recommend using an extractor to remove bio-contaminates. The small 3-gallon Gecko extractor is very popular for that. www.excellent-supply.com/products/gecko-spot-upholstery-extractor

Hello, I clean the carpets in a health care setting at a nursing home. I am currently using Hot Water Extraction with an Advance Aquaplus AXP. It has counter rotating brushes and a metered detergent dispensing system. I've been looking into encap cleaning. Could I use my Aquaplus AXP machine for encap cleaning? Thanks!

For doing straight encap cleaning, the Advance extractor would not work. That machine is only suited for hot water extraction.

That's the beauty of CRB machines. Just swap out the brushes for whatever type of caret you're working with. On a soft/plush residential carpet, we'd suggest using white brushes. Shower feeding with rotary. So is the dwell time necessary with shower feeding? Should I put down a light pre spray then shower feed?

You could pre-spray with an encap pre-spray such as Encap-Punch. Or you could just double back over the section that's being scrubbed. When I ran rotary machines to shampoo here's what I would often do... I would quickly scrub forward and backward over a section (about 10-20 feet long) as I'd dispense shampoo from the tank. And then I'd criss-cross back over the section (about 4-6 feet wide) while feathering out just a little more shampoo. So it's up-and-back (north-south) and then side-to-side (east-west). It's fairly quick and does a good job of applying the solution evenly.

So can carpet be cleaned with just a CRB? I am confused on this machine. I we say use the Orbit Vibe I thought that agitates and cleans but when you read on CRBs thats what they do also no? Or is this only for those that do steam cleaning? And if so why even do steam cleaning if you really just need an OB or CRB to clean?? Please help. Thanks

CRB machines can be used for straight encap cleaning, or they can be used with absorbent powder like Adsorb Ultra. They can also be used for pre-scrubbing pre-spray prior to steam cleaning. As a straight encap machine, good results can be achieved as long as the carpet is not hammered, in which case a Cimex or an Orbot would do a better job at with straight encap cleaning. On the other side of the coin, all of the carpet mills love CRB machines because they provide a relatively idiot-proof way for even a marginal cleaner to not damage carpet fiber.

So, are the orbital machines you're discussing in this video the same as any old floor buffing machine, or is there a difference? I've been doing a lot of research online lately in order to find a good interim cleaning solution between hot water extractions and am finding nothing but completely contradictory information in regard to bonnet cleaning and the use of orbital machines. On the one hand, there are many who would argue that the bonnet cleaning isn't ideal because it smashes the carpet pile down flat and therefore only gets the surface dirt. rather than actually lifting the pile in order to get that deeply embedded dirt. Also, I know for a fact that many carpet manufacturers whos' care and maintenance guides and warranties specifically state in bold letters, that bonnet cleaning is not recommended and will void the warranty on the carpet. And then on the other hand, there are people such as yourself who swear by bonnet cleaning. So , like, whats really going on? Because I'm confused.

Orbital machines such as the Vibe are NOT rotary machines. They're similar to an orbital hand polisher for your car (on steroids). As opposed to swirling the carpet pile in one direction as a rotary machine does, the orbital machines make 1725 dime-sized oscillations per minute - which addresses the carpet pile from all directions. And the Orbot machines are approved by the CRI (Carpet & Rug Institute) as being safe for carpet care. Orbitals are a very different animal compared to a standard old-fashioned rotary/swing machine.
