Cross timber bison. Dusty you should put up a primer fence all the way around the Ponderosa techniques everything you need to learn, never know.

I wish you would have talked a little bit about what each of these posts goes into? For example different types of ground cover and whether cement is needed or whatever else is needed

In typical build situations we will drive all these posts directly into the ground with no cement. You will only use cement/concrete in areas that need the extra surface area due to moisture or poor soil conditions. Cement/concrete with wood posts will cause for premature post failure as the cement will hold moisture against the post. If you have to use cement/concrete, you need to tamp gravel around the bottom 6-8" of post then put concrete on top of the tamped gravel to help some of the moisture to escape the bottom of the post.

If I use a 12ft wood post, how deep do I need to bury it for best performance?

How deep you go with your post is going to depend on the height of your fence and what the diameter of your post is.
