We just bought a 2023 e pro 20FBS. We decided,1-under 4000 lbs if possible. Our truck a 2007 Tundra with towing package CAN pull up to 7800 total.. so not going there. So to avoid confusion we made it clear that we would not even look at one much over 4000. 2- bathroom that isn't worse than a public toilet stall, and had to have the front pedal, and some cabinet. 3-We required a slide. We did NOT require a dinette. We aren't fans of them. We preferred not to have a murphy bed because he goes to bed much sooner and I can sit on the sofa while he sleeps. 4-wanted a 3 burner stove and oven if possible. Oven can store some pots and pans when not in use. To preserve the glass cover, I bought a large silicone baking mat to cover it when not in use so it won't get scratched by cutting boards and the mat can stand 500 degrees F. in case one of us screws up. 5- we were not against a bunk bed extra (not for us to sleep on) because we could use as storage mainly but also emergency guests. We are at risk for evacuations due to fires. We didn't really want one but we noticed some companies made them crooked making their work suspicious. 6- One model of a different brand almost "won" It was about $3000 cheaper.... had more counter space, nicer sofa that is removable because it is a real sofa and I think foot rests too in the same place- the slide out. .. BUT the bathroom was very tight. MAYBE an inch between the glass shower and an inch from the other wall. NO ROOM. I could see why it was marked down so far. Otherwise it would have "won." 7- So for what we want, this works. Easy for our mountains, our narrow roads. Easy for the truck as well. We had a toy hauler- Huge kitchen and bathroom, seriously like a house, tons of storage inside (none outside except the sewer hose cubby) high quality wood cabinetry a little pushing the weight limit but not over (about 1500lbs under, 24ft, 8.5ft wide. 100 gal capacity fresh water. A lot of good stuff, but a pain to haul and back up. Hard to see around. Also the bigger you are the fewer parks accept you. Smaller is better. Loved the deck feature though lol

Your requirements sounded a lot like ours! We do miss the dinette sometimes (had one in previous camper) but the mod we did to add a table has worked out well. Good tip on the stove! We really don’t use it that much - seems to be a must have or really don’t use lol! No I’m between! We have thought about a bunkhouse as well for the storage or “office” area. Good point on the emergency guests as well. Wow - seems like would be hard to get much smaller than our bathroom lol. Not a dealbreaker but would like just a tad bigger! Those toy haulers are nice but we do like the GeoPro for towing and maneuvering. Thanks for watching!

Love the video. I was considering buying the same one, but by going and siting in them realize I would like the extra 5 feet. So I bought in October 2020 the 2021 Rockwood 2608 BS. Private bedroom and a dining table. Those extra 5 feet really make a difference. Very happy with our rv. I can watch tv right in front of me, the wife can work on her hobbies on the table and even our Chi-poodle Zoe has her space. Very nice lay out. I recommend it. Thanks 🙏

I love you guys! Thanks for all of your great posts. I am very new to trailer camping. I am extremely resourceful, but lazy. My path was slightly different than yours(Not a facebook fan). The appearance of the geo pro was definitely a factor of interest. The solar capability was also major. My local dealer had several floor plans to look through. At first I was sure I wanted the FBS, however the FD was appealing also. My partner and I talked and ruminated for awhile(days). We decided to take the plunge and order the FDS, with the murphy bed, but with the same slide out as the FBS. I am super excited for it, but your videos keep me grounded and understanding what I am facing. I am truly grateful for all your posts!

I am purchasing my third Geo Pro. My first was a 12RK. The second was a 19FD and now I am getting a 2022 19FBTH. I have owned and purchased about every other brand out there and they all have their issues. Two major issues on the Geo Pro. My 12RK came detached from the frame. They forgot to attach it at the factory and there was a recall issued that was not serviced at the dealer. My 19FD's microwave fell out and the wind caught the door and the little black stopper went right through the fiberglass wall. So why purchase another? Believe it or not, these were minor compared to the issues I had with others. I don't care what brand you get or how much you pay for them, they all have their share of problems. My last camper had to be totally rebuilt and Thor Industries and was in the shop in Indiana for almost a year. Before I got it back, it was vandalized while in their lot. Be prepared. Don't go into buying a camper with high expectations. You will be sadly disappointed. Learn how to work on the small stuff and don't sweat the big stuff. Great video guys!
@WinesPinesandCanines2 жыл бұрын
Sorry it took us a while to reply! Glad you are liking the GeoPro line but wow - the detaching on the 12RK and the microwave part through the wall must have been a bit scary! And yes - sadly the RV industry does not have the best stories of quality control. But these things do take a beating every time they go down the road so we expect things as well. It's the nature of owning a camper! Our first one was a Class C made by Fleetwood (older - 2005). Have to say the camper itself was really well built - no issues but the engine pulling it was another story lol. And we completely agree - if you are going to own a camper you have to be handy!! Thanks for watching - much appreciated!

Wow, the stopper going through the door sucks, but I'm glad to hear it all worked out. We had an R-Pod before our GeoPro and it had a little metal tie-down loop near the stairs to attach a dog leash. Our dog is very reactive to humans/pets/noise/a leaf blowing in the wind, lol (you get the picture). A dog at the opposite site startled him and our dog took off toward the edge of our site, as far as the leash would let him. As he moved, he managed to get his leash under the stairs. The stairs flew upward and gouged a hole in the outside of the R-Pod. We never tied our dog to the loop again! 🤣

Every trip out it went back for repairs. From toilet leaking to the stove falling out because it wasn’t installed correctly!! I generally like the 19FD but not to happy with the assembly of it by Rockwood !!
@WinesPinesandCanines3 жыл бұрын
Ugh - yes. Sometimes I think camper quality really depends on who is assembling the parts that day. Sad that there isn't better quality control. We have been lucky with small things that didn't affect us camping but a stove falling out is definitely not acceptable! Thanks for watching.

Great video, we have also narrowed our choice down to the E-pro/ Geo-pro Wish they had an option for a dinette instead of the couch in the fbs, so will probably go for the E-pro 19fd even though I'm 6 feet tall the murphy bed seems like the best option for me, having a dinette is like getting a nice booth in a restaurant. Almost bought one last year, glad we waited because of the larger sink, bigger solar panel, 12 volt fridge/and freezer and the hidden cabinet hinges and interior color change along with a few other things makes this a lot better trailer although about $2500 more expensive.

Thank you! I know the FD is a very popular choice as well. The did have the 19QB that had the same general layout as the FBS but had a dinette with the kitchen on the slide. But 2020 was the last year so wouldn’t have the upgrades. And I agree - I really like the upgrades and almost wish we had waited 2 years to buy haha. Good luck with your purchase and safe travels!

Ok... We have to meet...Too many similarities ... My wife and I love exploring wineries and in fact the discussion of owning an RV started over 2 years ago because we visited a NJ winery with an RV park next door.... We selected the GEO Pro because of the towing capacity of our Tacoma...The big seller was the layout... The TV was across from the sofa.... The kitchen and living area made sense. After a trip or two, we noticed we needed to upgrade our truck and went with the Tundra... Now, we are like... well we can tow more!... The 19FBS is great but it would be nice to have something a little bigger....specifically the shower.... Note: we do love the Geo Pro 19FBS...We have been on 4 trips with it and honestly can't tell you how many RV'ers have asked us to look at our rig or have inquired about it.. a lot of folks were like.. "when our kids our grown this is want we want"... But... Something a tad bit larger would be nice... We were are now looking at the Jayco Eagle HT 272RBOK...Little Bigger but similar layout... We're not sure if we are going to pull the trigger because our Geo Pro is paid for and rather put the money towards trips.. I also like the simplicity of the Geo Pro and the ease of towing.... Any case... I have enjoyed your videos! Keep them coming!

Lol - yes we do sound like we have similar thoughts and experiences! Eventually we do think we will go a little bigger but probably not for a while. Plus the inside and outside colors resemble the Geo as well. But, as you said - right now we are enjoying the GeoPro and would rather use the additional cost to upgrade on other things! Thanks again for watching - glad you are enjoying. And we look forward to one day getting to meet up!

Good evening. New subscriber here. This is really an awesome video to highlight your thought process in choosing your geo pro. Thank you for sharing that with us. Back in the summer of 2020, we were heading towards getting a geo pro or r-pod. For both models, we would have chose the murphy bed option. We were waiting to order something after the New Years so as to be done with our last child's college bill (pay raise!!). Well, once we finally passed the new years and actually started going through what we wanted, we ended up choosing something different. Our mission statement for the next 5 years will be to boondock in our home state of CO and the immediate surrounding states for periods of 1-2 weeks. We were finding the geo pro may just be too small for our liking then. And, we have a toyota tacoma; we envisioned that it could be dominated here in the rocky mountains. So, we ended up choosing an Outdoors RV 22FQS. Unfortunately, with the larger size, we will lose a bit of the tighter accessed places. But, we'll generally be comfortable. We also enjoy winter camping. So, we did like the more 4 season orientation of the ORV. With this sized rig, we also decided to upgrade our tow vehicle to a gas powered F350. We just went for the big puller in the event that we upgrade trailers later (after we retire in 5 years, we'll start doing 1-2 month trips). If you head back out west, don't hesitate to reach out if you are coming to Ouray, CO. You are welcome to moochdock in our driveway; right next to the largest tree in the county and just down hill from an 80ft waterfall that flows about 40 ft behind our driveway. And....I really still love the geo pros! These things are really awesome! They bring along all the modern conveniences of full sized trailers, with the exception of space. Safe travels!!

And Ouray is a place that is on our return list as we did not get there the first time. Thank you for your very generous offer and we may take you up on that in the future! It sounds beautiful. We really love the geo but a little bigger camper definitely has its benefits - especially on longer trips. But something to plan for in the future for us. @@WinesPinesandCanines How fun! We moved here from NC! I was stationed there for 15 yrs in the army. Once our youngest graduated from high school, 10 days later the movers came (we had came out here the year before for house hunting; so already had a house). The Class C was on our consideration list too! There were a few Coachmen and Thor models that were about 32ft that we really liked the floor plans. The Outdoors RV is constructed out west. I actually don't even know if there is a dealer on the east coast. They are sister company to Nash and Northwoods, I believe. We originally saw them at a dealer in Poncha Springs CO back when we were tire kicking in 2017 (just after we moved here). We weren't in the market yet, but just looking. Well...it must have made an impression as it was easy to migrate back to it. Lance was also higher on the list. ORVs are not the lightest things out there , at all. Ours is 6400lbs empty as we got the upgraded titanium model. But, it has a 3600lb cargo capability. My gosh...I don't know how we'd ever load it up. Our floor plan is really pretty close to yours, but ours has a dinette vice your theater seating. And, the queen bed is north/south. And, our kitchen is curb side vice street side. Otherwise, it has a ton more storage and space; and literally it could carry my wife's vw bug. Thompson RV , referenced below, has commented that they have replaced dinettes for people with couches and theater seating. It isn't an option, so is a post purchase upcharge. This isn't our dealer, but Thompson RV out of OR is just down the road from the factory. They usually make pretty good videos. This link was the only titanium series video on the floor plan that I found. Truth in lending, there are many on the forums that don't think the 10k upcharge is worth the items that you get. They get the mountain series and just add the upgrades they like (which really may be right up your alley, as it sounded in the video hehehe). kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHeqdmyYipp0rc0

@@WinesPinesandCanines My dad was in the service also; so I was born in NC and spent a lot of time there as a kid also. Yes.....we took advantage of being in the area and explored the whole southeast area while there. Since we moved to there from the Rocky Mountain region, we only went to the Appalachians once in that last 15 yr stretch. We mostly headed to the coast. Yes...I have heard good things with the Nash, Northwoods, and ORVs, also. Artic Foxes seem to have a good reputation too. It seems these would all be favored by those that want to use in the cooler climates too. There was an Arctic Fox 28F that we were very interested in as it had a ton of internal storage to include a kitchen island, but it is 30ft long and we just easily migrated back to the ORVs that we had looked into 4 yrs ago. Yes...the cargo capacity is quite large. I am really happy with it as we don't need to count pounds. The ORVs have 3 levels of trailer that tend to correspond with 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton trucks; Creekside, Timber Ridge, and Blackstone, respectively. They also have toy hauler models and backcountry off grid oriented ones. I didn't go for the backcountry ones as the generators they come with are LP; which I wasn't interested in. The toy hauler models were pretty neat as the back ramp can be made into a patio. Those come with a 4k onan gas generator too. And for the traditional travel trailers, they have a mountain series and a titanium series; which would be commensurate with levels of trim. The first model we liked was like 31ft. We really liked it as it was set up for long 1-2 month trips in. Then after talking about going to a shorter model, we focused on one of the Creekside models (It had only like a 1500lb cargo capacity). After discussing some of the shortcomings of that rig, we moved up 1 foot to this 22fqs, which moved the trailer up into the Timber Ridge size (which meant bigger cargo capacity, bigger water heater, fridge, etc). If the ORV is something you end up being interested in, that Thompson RV youtube channel has videos that differentiate the levels of trim and smaller, medium, and large trailers. Outdoors RV also has a channel.

What tow vehicle were you using that would only tow 5200lbs and how did you decided how much dry weight was within your tow vehicles range? Why wasn't GVWR for the given trailer you were looking at the deciding factor for you?
@WinesPinesandCanines3 жыл бұрын
We had a V6 Tundra (4.0 L). Not very common and we decided to upgrade as we didn't feel like it would easily do mountains. The reason we were looking at dry weight was we knew what we typically bring cargo wise as we had a previous camper. So, with the 800-1000 lbs we knew would be added on, we wanted to keep somewhere around 3000-3500 lbs. We have seen some campers with more cargo carrying capacity then we would need and we didn't want to limit our selection by looking at gross weight when we would never add that much cargo to it. Thanks for watching!

@@WinesPinesandCanines Thanks for responding! My wife and I are looking at the 20BHS model and we have a chevy traverse that tows 5000 lbs. I'm not quite certain if it's enough vehicle for the trailer.
@WinesPinesandCanines3 жыл бұрын
We are not completely familiar with the specs on the 20BHS but likely similar to the 19FBS if not a little more. Our previous camper was a Class C so we didn't have to really worry about weight as much. When we started looking for the GeoPro we found out that the gross or dry weight wasn't the only factor. The tongue weights on the Forest River website are listed without items such as batteries, water and cargo and they are frequently 150-200 lbs heavier once everything is loaded (The 2019 19FBS was listed around 420lbs but loaded with only one battery and no water we were at 590lbs) Not sure what the tongue weight availability is on the Traverse but that is an item to look at as well. Also - if you haven't researched already, look at calculating the cargo capacity of the Traverse to make sure you are within those limits also. Hope that helps!

They do have a new model that is about 2 feet longer - the 20FBS. But if or when we look to upgrade, will probably look at the Rockwood mini lites but they also don't have some of the items that attracted us to the GeoPro - always a trade off. We are hoping to travel more and longer in the next few years so would like the extra space at that time. Unfortunately, the GeoPro's are all one axle so they are limited in how long they can be. We really like ours though and if they somehow did come out with a longer one, we would likely upgrade. Thanks for watching.

I agree. The FD versus the FBS was a hard choice. I bought a 2020 FBS in the late summer of 2019. Selection was limited. The slide-out of the FBS was the determining factor for me. But I really would have preferred the option of a dinette, no matter how small. One factor for me was that in some of the E-Pro's (same as GeoPro) the kitchen was in the slide-out. And that made me worry about hose flexing. Regarding the FDS, I really like the idea. But it does not come with the oven option. A deal breaker. And, according to one KZbin video, the moved the fridge to toward the front and the Murphy bed will not lower unless the slide-out is extended. So, using it in a rest stop or short term is impossible. Personally, I have considered upgrading to the bigger and more comfortable E-Pro 26FKBS. But it would mean buying a new car, and I am not ready for that right now. If anything, I would consider selling the 2020 FBS and buying a 2021 or 2022 FD. New 12 volt fridge, bigger bath, more storage space, a dinette, no slide, and bigger solar panel. The TV being smaller and so far away does concern me. But, sometimes you have to make concessions. Thanks.
@WinesPinesandCanines3 жыл бұрын
Yes - the decision between those two models is a tough one! We really do miss having a dinette more than we thought but would still likely choose the FBS. We are still trying to figure out a mod to give us that option lol. I did not know they changed the layout that much on the FDS and agree that not being able to put the bed down would be a deal breaker for us as well. And you are right - I do like some of the new features of the 2021.5 and wish we had the fridge/solar. But that is always the problem - as soon as you buy one, the next version has something you wish you had! Thanks for watching!

We have purchased and upgraded our microphones from these earlier videos and are looking into upgrading again to continue trying to improve our viewers experience. Safe travels!

Why did you not consider the rpod?

Its been a few years lol, but I believe it just felt a little too tight with the rounded front. And I don't think that in 2019 they had the off road tires/lift kit (not sure if they do yet) and the solar/inverter (which we do believe is an option now). They have made some changes to the graphics though and we have seen them in campgrounds and it is very unique which we like.

@@WinesPinesandCanines Thank you for the prompt reply. Went and looked at the 2021 19FDS yesterday, Well laid out rig. Storage space a bit limited but the queen murphy bed is a huge feature (with topper of course) since the couch was great and had flip-out foot rests. Thank you for sharing your passion and insights on the Geo Pro. Cheers, Tom

We have not yet been able to see that one - saw the FD a few years ago but the slide should make it feel pretty roomy. The FD is a very popular model and we imagine the FDS to be also. We have seen some great mods on that one as well to help with storage. Let us know if you end up purchasing - will point you towards where to find them!
