Choosing the Right Refrigerator for Your Space

In this video, I go over key considerations in finding the right size refrigerator for your space.
In addition to basic Width x Height x Depth measurements, there are some key clearances one should consider when purchasing the right size refrigerator.
For example, hinge and door swing clearances are often overlooked, and these measurements will vary depending on your specific refrigerator model. And while some counter-depth refrigerators are 24" deep in the box itself, you may still end up having to install them sticking out past the countertop. I go over all of these nuances and hope that we can help you find the right fridge for your home.

I Iove the kitchen cabinets. What brand and color are they?

They changed the sizes in the early 2000s and now we’d have to remodel our kitchen to fit a new larger sized fridge.

You’re better off buying a refrigerator that lasts for 20 years like sub-zero or Viking and modeling your kitchen around that refrigerator. Most box store refrigerators today are garbage that won’t last. Btw, LG refrigerators have compressor issues.

Great video. I'm currently experiencing door opening issue right now. Our refrigerator opening is 38” so we thought 36” counter depth would not be a problem. However, our right door (French door model) does not fully open as it hits the wall on the right. We’re thinking about removing that casing/trim on the wall to gain some opening space so I can at least get 90-95 degrees. Currently around 80 degrees. When entering the kitchen, we go through an opening wall, to the right is the refrigerator. Any tips on this situation? definitely do not want to downsize to 33" and pulling out the fridge would take away so much space from the opening to the kitchen.

that's a bummer. you could try to "cheat" the eye a little bit. if your opening is 38", what if you slid the fridge in at a slight angle that's not perfectly straight 90 degree from the back wall? a couple of degrees might not stick out to your eyes, but might just be enough to buy you a little more room to open that door. that seems like the easiest solution if it buys you enough room. good luck!
