Choosing Your Cleric Domain

Trying out a dark apostate-divine disciple-death domain cleric recently. I debated between a few domains for my mix and decided on death with this video (glad I did). Next thing I knew, the first sla of the death domain is 1d6+12 damage per level. TWELVE. Two free max d6's a level that are directly influenced by spell power. At level five, right when I got this SLA, this does anywhere between 220-550 negative damage on anything it hits. It trades the great damage with slow cast speed though which can get annoying without bumping concentration. Only 1 boss has survived a single hit from it so far and that was a cr 10... And it took 4 negative levels the moment it did lol. Couldn't hit me anymore. Thanks for the video!

There's such a missed opportunity in the alignment domains. They really should allow you to turn outsiders of the opposite alignment.

Didnt watch the whole thing, just wanted to add two quick notes to heal/tank clerics: - For heal clerics, magic domain and protection domain are very awesome too. Magic Domain vastly increases you spell point pool (to catch up with FvS) and also boosts your positive spellpower by as much as healing domain. Evocation DCs are also great for leveling and for locking things down with burst of glacial wrath or soundburst (stunned mobs dont hit your allies so you have to heal less) - Protections defensive boosts work well for heal clerics too, and the Radiant Forcefield SLA is great for e.g. Orthons in VoD, again reducing the pressure on your tank and your own healing For tanks: - Protection domain is solid, but AC tanking is usually not something you should do unless youre vastly overstatted. When youre trying to build for the maximum burst of damage you can tank (KT dragon breath, VoD repeaters, Gish and Rudus slapping you) animal wins out. Also the reflex save is amazing to be better equipped against Zulkis and Kor Kaza and the like

@@leonhopfl573 If you add the fey energy tap - just checked - it adds extra 408 spellpoints. It´s from the sunelf tree. 300 sp is close to one lost soul so it´s not enough for a domain. Video bashes healing domain but the extra spellpower is a good boos. Also paying zero for empower healing helps to save mana but I am terrible on the calculations. To me what would matters more would be extra hp or extra prr, both are pretty close. Running an cleric 15 bard 5 now. Tough that the cleric capstone would be a good thing but spellsinger cap gives extra mana and this makes easier to add empower or/and intensify for those needed overhealing on high reaper.

@@rodolfoboimarinho6504 Yeah its not amazing but its something. Also magic domain is just healing domain in better, you get the same spellpower (albeit later) in universal!!! instead of only healing power, and the free empower heal is kinda irrelevant since you need the enhancements as filler anyways and it effectively costing you 4 mana per cast (+slas and stuff). And you basically have an aoe action boost: spellpower in turn undead charges. magic is for more active clerics, animal/protection for straight up healbots

@@leonhopfl573 True. But it´s one less feat to spend. The problem is: healer´s builds have feats to spare XD. I liked the domains and new pass but they still should give more love to clerics. Even today picking 2 domains wouldn´t make it OP or better than fvs. Also this idea to give stuff only until level 14 don´t make much sense in a game that epic level is 30. Barkskin and ram´s might as example since both where great 15 years ago - before +2 tomes and reincarnation - and now are just pointless because don´t scale with epics.

Healing domain is actually pretty good for a healbot if you dont mind the slower leveling. You can play r10 with a 17/3 pal healing everybody with slas.

i might be biased, but i think you glanced over the 80 universal spellpower magic domain gets. The extra spellpoints aren't that useful at endgame but if you couldn't kill everything with your divine smite and flamestrike SLAs it takes of a huge boulder on my heroic level toon's shoulder when I don't have to think about casting more non-SLA spells... Then again with sun/fire domain you just have more SLAs.

I have been leveling clerics through heroics recently and I find that the lower level aoe slas help alot, such as order's wrath and chaos hammer, then they get super good again at level 24 comboing with the master of alignment and holy smite sla from divine disciple. Except chaos hammer is super bugged and never worked so I tr'ed out of it. Death domain can be fun because negative energy ray is the HIGHEST CLERIC DAMAGE SPELL which you failed to mention, only it's not aoe. Light is also obviously great for nuking, animal is the best for healing/tanking because those extra hit points get multiplied by item % sets and also core % sets bonus to hit points. I disagree with you on end game turn undead, without full itemization you can turn 1-3 mobs on r10. With full itemization you should be able to turn 3 each time no fail and turn has a very low cooldown. I literally lead kill counts as a healbot cleric on r6+ quests with undead or normal thth

Hey I was playing with magic domain and in my humble opinion its very good. My guildmate told my to try light domain but extra spellpower to people around me plus 40 just for me so total 80 and more mana is very nice. SLA is weak and I was not using it

Destruction Cleric-Barbarian, could spin on 2 hand rage healer heal/aoe rage during some burst phases. I know Strim had a pure Wisdom Barbarian occultist. Maybe find a way to hybrid that for flavor build.

Good go though on the cleric domains. I persoanlly go with Animal domain. The -15% fortbypass is very nice also for melee clerics. Extra HP as you allready went though, But the bear charge on animal domian is actully very strong aswell, specially when you wnat to go into a fight or out, as you phase trough mobs with it. You also talked about a destruction domain, cleric, i used to run an orc cleric the cool thing witrh this one is actully not really the spells itself, but with the filigree that gives you temp hp when you use rages. This is very very great for self healing in reaper quests at the higher end. However as you also said, there is better ways to get casting spells when casting.

I should have talked a bit about the animal domain charge. Personally, I'd just use falconry CC since if you are wisdom based you're going to be using falconry anyways. And if you go War you get plus 10 to DC's so another better option in my opinion is to use legendary Dreadnought if you want to focus on CC. That way you can stun stuff and get helpless damage and benefit from the +10 to tactics DC's not to mention better DPS from war domain via holy sword. Granted the animal domain charge you get at level 14 whereas dire charge you have to wait until epics. They really should change the animal domain charge to work based off either wisdom or strength. Because if you're playing warpriest you're not going to be wisdom based, and if you are you may as well just use falconry for your CC instead you're dipping there for wisdom to hit and damage anyways.

I found that most domains are fairly useless. Animal, Elemental (Fire), and Luck are my go to domains
