I prefer ball pythons 'cause they are docile and they aren't very active. It fits my life style perfectly, and they don't require too much humidity. They are perfect beginner snakes in my opinion. BALL PYTHONS 4 LIFE!

+Savannah Stepanowich I am aware of the humidity, I have a ball python of my own. Humidity should be above 50% (ranging to 60%-70%) and raise humidity up to 80% when shedding. You should never have too high of a humidity because they can get scale rot and never too low because they'll get RI.

Corn snakes do get larger than five feet and thicker than what you said if they are fed and well and kept in a suitable enclosure. They are very docile though and are very beautiful. I personally own a hypo corn snake and he's the sweetest snake. Def. would recommend a corn snake to anyone, beginner or not.

I lived only in the UK and China, so no problems for me, and people are always super curious. But I guess if you live in a very religious country like the U.S. then it could be a problem.

Oh my goodness you did my request! This was very helpful, thank you so much. I've had plenty of reptiles and lizards before, just never a snake :) You're videos have always been helpful. Yes they would be but you should provide a nice heat source for them and be careful while you take them out the cage cause you'll need to dig through the sand to find them and they can latch on your hand and take a bite from being mistaken

Be confident. A corn snake bite won't hurt. Just reach in very deliberately and pick it up, avoiding touching near the head and making sure the body is well supported. Maybe try your local pet shop and ask if you can hold one?

Nikki first of all i would like to say thank you a lot for your advice as it has really helped me. im very new to snakes and i have never had one as a pet and i have watched your videos as well as others and i have learned a lot. I now face one problem. i love both Corn snakes and Ball Pythons and i am aware that corn snakes would be better first pets then ball pythons. but in your opinion which snake would be a lot friendlier and which snake do you think would be good recommendation for some one like me?
@jatinkiran7626

Not Nikki, but as a person that owns ball pythons and has dealt with Corns and Milks, I personally prefer Ball Pythons, they're far less skittish, they come in loads of different morphs, they're perfect pets if you want to chill in front of a computer screen or the TV with it just chilling out on your hand or around your neck. Overall I'd say ball pythons are better handler snakes than Milks/Corns. But that's just my opinion.

Hognose are sometimes known to go on hunger frenzies just like king snakes and mistaken your hand as food, if you ever got bitten, that is not nice at all since they're mildly venomous. So i disagree on hoggies as beginner snakes. And yes i've cared for many many hoggies

btw i had a snake under fed and it was ball python never struck me or bitten me eve shared a tank with my female but we fed i take them out to feed... truely a nice great snake they are very hearty how i raised mine was different to most ppl but i had super high humidity to it with there water basin under a heater to have that thick sticky heat going on where they thrive on.... mainly 92-94 degrees i fed a 2 1/2 male n a 3 1/4 female a jumbo mice every 4 days... n those days jumped the temp to 96 degrees which is unheard of i know.... but helps digest such a big kill for there normal size... after a day u level it back offf.... i never had no heating lamp either .... put thin layer of treee bark over the heater on a aquarium with the water basin over it... DOESS WONDERS... also a great tip if ur willing... fill up a bath of warm water... not hot nor too coooll.... just a nice war water temp let them swim.. n drink n relax they enjoy that for a good shdding with a semi-crse object to rub off off for when they shed to catch on to or cling... to actually strip there old shedding off..... honestly ur 17 n a girlllll n ur doing a outstanding job!!! thanks for these yt vids... idk if ur korean or chinese tbh... but never met a asian who likd reptiles...... btw i came here from sharla vids from japan!!!!!!!

Hey, not to butt in, or disregard Nikki's advice, coz I'm sure she knows more than me, but snakes actually scare pretty easy, especially around things which are new to them..I'd keep the pets apart, just in case the snake strikes out of fear or something..A bite alone could do a lot of damage. Good luck =)

Colubrids are a "family" of snakes. Constrictors are snakes that kill their prey by constriction- it is not a taxonomic classification. Many colubrids are also constrictors, such as rat snakes and milk snakes.

Good video, I'd argue your point on all king snakes being good eaters. I've had mountain king snakes for many years and I can say without hesitation that they are NOT good eaters, one of the pickiest collubrid species i've owned. However, many other variants like the California king and mexican king snakes are amazing eaters.

How do you 'see' when a snake wants to bite you or not?
@Lacrypanties
@Lacrypanties 9 жыл бұрын
Yuno Hellsing Depends on the snake, but most snakes will give you warnings, such as coiling, hissing, etc. Smaller snakes like rat snakes will actually strike at you with their mouths closed a few times to scare you away, and rattle their tails to imitate a rattle snake. The best way to learn if a snake is going to bite you or not, is too handle the snake often, learn their personality like you would any other animal. By doing that not only will you learn the tell tale "I'm going to bite" signs but you'll actually reduce the risk of being bitten. That being said, please don't handle your snakes too often until they are comfortable in their home, it can cause them extra stress and they will associate being handled with stress instead of enrichment.
