Great job Mark! I’m glad you performed the two drag notes as DRAG and not closed them up as a ruff as a “ratamaque.” Again another brass-whistle-clean demonstration.

No one hardly teaches the open close open method anymore. It makes me happy to see some one actually using it.

My teacher would rant if you closed it, it becomes a RUFF and not a DRAG. I learned it as 6/8 timing. 1 2 and 3, 4 5 and 6.

are you playing doubles with just finger control at high tempos? At what point does the drag or double or diddle becomes solely bounced? or does it?

Thanks for watching! A cheese would have the double/diddle on the flam.

I see, thanks. My teacher switched the names by accident.

So im not wrong, one of my intructurs say i should keep all of my fingers on the left stick, but most people and my other intructors say its ok to drop your ring finger and pinky when playing fast
@marcushawkinsmusic8 жыл бұрын
Ask your instructor to play with you at the tempo in question. Some people start dropping fingers at tempos that don't call for it. Other than that ,,, sound wins in my world everyday (all day 😬) so if you are getting the sound you want , roll with it.
