Frédéric Chopin - Berceuse in D flat op 57 - Synchron Yamaha CFX
So here’s my first Chopin upload - it’s the Berceuse (lullaby) which is a new piece for me but which I’ve wanted to learn for a long time, with it’s hypnotic left hand, beautiful melody, and ever more intricate right hand passages. I hope you enjoy it.
Recorded on a Yamaha U3 Silent Piano using the superb VSL Yamaha CFX - thanks again to Paul Kopf for all your support!

Thanks to @fredericchopin8779 for suggesting this piece and to JPR for all the audio enhancements.

Another thing I noticed is that Chopin likes to play a lot with pedal notes, and he's able to use very subtle chord progressions while maintaining the tonic of his key signature either in the left hand, or hidden somewhere along the notes. Very interesting study about him. For example, at timestamp (1:02), he uses the 5th scale degree of his tonic, the 5th interval of Db Major (A flat), as a pedal note to go against his melodies. There's something really insightful that I just noticed in his left hand pattern; he is altering back and forth between Db Major and Ab Dom 7th, sometimes Eb Minor (hence the occasional Eb + Gb notes). This a cycle of 3 chord progressions that he does while maintaining that D flat pedal note in the bassline. And his melodies in the right hand are based on that cycle of 3 chords, being very subtle with the harmonization as not to give it away. It's really genius.. a really genius use of cadences and modulations.

@@elwachus I agree - it’s amazing how Chopin gets so much harmonic variety in the right hand whilst keeping the same ostinato in the left hand - true genius, as you say. And so much melodic inventiveness in the right hand too
