Did you guys know it was Chopin who composed the famous Funeral March??
Here is my performance on Steinway & Sons' new piano design by Lalique.
Trivia: This is usually played at the funerals of very influential military and political leaders such as JFK, Thatcher and Churchill. It was also played at Chopin's own funeral.
I have used motifs from it in my arrangement of "Something In The Way" by Kurt Cobain, to regard him as an influential leader in music who inspired many young people with his feminist, anti-racist, and anti-commercialist stance.
You can hear that from this link: bit.ly/NirvanaC

I never realized how appropriate this song was as a song of death and grief until hearing the whole thing. It begins like leaden slabs dropped across the soul, building into a lighter, almost wistful melancholy before plummeting back into the depths, rising again only to leave you with a final somber echo that lingers with you long after the song is over, just as the death of a loved one will never quite leave you. A masterfully written piece played superbly.

Just A Dude Until hearing the whole thing? Actually "the whole thing" is called piano sonata op. 35 in B-flat minor and takes about 25 minutes

This is one of my favourite piano tunes because of how technically brilliant it is. My god she makes it explode, explode with raw power and shear emotion, exactly how I am sure Chopin would have intended. After the first few bars, that sudden change, where it REALLY takes off like you wouldn't believe!

This is a brilliant rendition of the Funeral March! It is virtually identical to Vladimir de Pachmann's early Victor Talking Machine Company recording from about 1912. The second theme (which begins at 2:50 in the recording) is absolutely perfect! My favourite piece of music by Chopin!

At approx 1:23, measure 15 in my sheet music, it is written with the left hand playing D flat, A flat, and F. My hand isn't big enough to reach all three notes, and my right hand can't reach that F either. Did Chopin have extra large hands to be able to play that? I am thinking of playing just the A flat and F on the left hand, anyone have suggestions?
@jamaalbrown6832
@jamaalbrown6832 7 жыл бұрын
TimmyOzman you have to roll the chord. Use your 5th finger, 3rd and thumb to play the notes. You play the pinky first, then very very quickly play the middle finger, then very very quickly play the thumb. When playing the whole piece at regular speed, nobody will notice that you aren't playing all the notes at the same time

for a late answer to the second half of your question, yes Chopin had huge hands. He could play a 10th easily and wrote them in his music frequently.
