Very nice voicing and pleasant softness! And I always hear some discrete counterpoint in Chopin's music, his admiration for Bach is obvious. I am an amateur returner after a total of 10 years of pause followed by 14 years of sporadic playing and underpractice. This waltz was part of my repertory 30 years ago so it triggers some memories... ❤ In 2021 I had the chance to talk to Yuja Wang for about 20 minutes with an upright piano in the same room (it is really a lot for someone like her, I did not imagine she would be so kind). She told me it's a crime to play so rarely and neglect practice like I do, and gave me some clues about getting out of this. It was a life changing experience 😍Since then, I managed to make time and do exactly what she told me, and also I saw the level of damage that happened to my technique and even memory and sight reading (I am 57 now...). However I am beginning to recover, although very slowly (Waltz in Db major almost back and now I feel even able to start relearning the Ballade no.1). Not yet prepared to relearn Rach. Concerto 1, neither Chopin no.2, but I am beginning to trust that it will happen eventually. So why shouldn't I try learning this Waltz again, as I am in final stage with all the pieces I am working on? ☺

Thanks Josh! I'll try not to play hideously anymore and add more dynamic range when I play this piece again. 😅

Yes, it was a very enjoyable performance at the competition. I still have Rubinstein in.my ear when listening. You even play it more nuanced, less speedy. I wonder how many hundreds of hours went into this...?💪😀🐸

Thank you so much Roland. I didn’t count the hours 😂
