Did you ever try a product called C-L-R. It's a mild acid type bathroom rust remover. Try it, make sure to neutralize the metal afterwards. If used cautiously, it will decrease the rust and will brighten paint slightly, but not remove it. Play with it on a test piece.....you will be amazed. Guys use it on barn find real automobiles with fantastic results.

It's a 1948. They also made the same truck with Rexall Drug Store stickers, that truck was Orange. In 1949 most trucks had the mag wheels.

I have a nice collection of vintage tonkas myself, basically when I get one I just clean it and straighten it up a bit, I like to keep them in original condition as much as possible.

Very nice. I like to chop them up but I only modify the trucks with no real collector value. I love my nice originals as much as my customs.

It wouldnt fit under this little rig. There is a video on youtube from many years ago where someone did that with a tonka dumptruck, even had a functional dump bed.

I couldn't stand it. I would have to repaint it. Fix it back like it was. Repaint it the right way and the value will go up.
