Was struggling to figure out how to easily chop my breaks when timestretch was enabled...got to 3:49 and literally had to sprint and grab my M8 when I saw how LT2 was the answer. Mind blown!

Same, i've been doing all kinds of other dumb shit before I knew about that pattern. Still doesn't fix how grainy the break sounds during regular playback though, even when at the correct pitch/tempo.

Part 2, please! Can't wait for part 11. Pre-ordered the M8 which should arrive who knows when. In the mean time, I'm an addict with no access to the goods. Please feed this addiction!

You might know already, but you can also use m8 headless by getting a teensy and connecting to a computer. People have used it on Steam decks this way.

I started again with Renoise and must say it´s my fav DAW by far now. Coming form Bitwig which is also dope but Renoise is the whole Matrix experience. A M8 for the pocket would be cool as i think polyend is kind of lame compared to M8 .

Toward the end of the video, how did you get the shuffle on Phrase 22? Did you have to use a triplet groove or were you able to use the LFO position shuffle to find triplet-timed break offsets within the break itself?

Hello :) I have some questions... because recording stuff from the M8 is starting to drive me crazy (is this correct english?) How do you record properly the sound from the M8 ? (I'm sorry I am a total newbie for recording external hardware). I found a mini jack / jack that I plug into my external soundcard but the sound is quite average ... maybe the scarlet 2i2 is not powerful enough ? Is this a correct way to record anyway ? And then how tf do you mix the track in itself ? I managed to record something but it sounds quite bad since nothing is mixed. Are you mixing tracks in the m8 itself ? Can we separate every track in ableton kind of like the digitone (if you see what I mean) ? Well thanks a lot for your time, and thanks for your work really appreciate it :)

Heya so - a few things - I would try to render stuff out on the M8 and then put it in a DAW, this'll usually result in higher audio quality files that generally sound better - the RENDER menu is in the project screen (up) and it'll allow you to render STEMS (every individual track) or you can render the whole song thru the limiter and fx and such. all the mixing can pretty much be done in the unit with the mixer / instrument volume & amp controls, so yeah - compose and arrange on the M8 and then render your song as either a stereo WAV or as individual stems for a DAW like Ableton or Logic hope that helps !

They were pad samples ! From old 90’s sample cds, there’s tons over on archive . Org !!

Thanks for the primer! Just FYI, though, there is a really annoying high-pitched hum in your m8's audio. Not sure if it's coming from the m8 itself or whatever you are using to record it. I don't think it's the sample, as it seems to be present in the audio stream whether the m8 is playing or not.
@soffter2 жыл бұрын
yeah it's killing me too, its because i recorded this one dumb and didn't pull the audio stream from the M8's usb, -.- my beta unit is a little finicky - it's gotten some serious use, i did my best to minimize it in the mix but! it's annoying as all hell, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ live n learn
@surganov2 жыл бұрын
@@soffter I have the same hum problem when I connect M8 to external display and use audio jack out at the same time. People on M8 discord are having the same issue, looks like it's by design. My solution is to go all digital and use USB only. As for audio routing, you can try to use Loopback software to create aggregate device, this works pretty well if you want to route M8 to RME software playback channels and have some control over volume and be able to record it in Ableton at the same time.

I can get the loops anywhere I want? Walmart? Also you say you’re going to adjust your loops and then quickly adjust many settings without saying a word. That’s not a tutorial. Would have been nice for you to explain everything you were doing. All these supposed tutorials are really just watching people play with their gear. No teaching what it what
