Күн бұрын

With questionable weather ahead, Alan decided to bag some of the 2nd crop hay we have on the farm. Alan had a partial bag left over from bagging the chopped straw, so we hoped to fill it up. Alan and Paul cut 2 different fields of hay. With the hay down, it was time to chop with the Gehl 400 Chopper on the International 1256 tractor. The International 1066 was purring on the bagger while the 820 John Deere hauled chopper boxes.

Trinity Dairy was established in 2006, in Minnesota. Alan and Jennifer farm with their 5 children; Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Jason. We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. Subscribe today to watch our small family dairy farm and family grow while continuing to thank our Lord for the blessings we've been given.

Watching your video made me nostalgic for the past. I enjoyed watching your older iron out bringing in the crop. I had very similar equipment. I think that bagger might be the best investment on your farm, certainly cuts down the number of small squares you need to make. Great video!

Those were some big thunderstorms. Love to watch them from a distance at night. Those pesky deer are gonna have to be taken care of this fall. Put some good meat in the freezer and let the kids have some memories with you. Love the channel.

I had forgotten about the offset tops on your wagons, and wondered for a minute about low trees...😂 Great video, Allen. I think it's funny that "everyone" made open auger pick up heads for years, but the new heads for the big choppers have a canopy over the auger and pick up. Gehl shrouded the auger back then. Ahead of their time!👍👍

We use to have a cutter almost identical to yours. We used a massey 1105 to pull it . Pretty sure it was smaller than your 1266. 3 gehl wagons we pulled with MM670's. Also a 6500 chevy dump truck. I miss the days of cutting silage. Best memory of the farm. Thanks for sharing. Lot of great memories back in the 60's,70's and 80's.

I too was going to ask about the manure pump situation but you already answered that. That fine grass is hard to chop in a New Holland Super 717 as well. Frost is on the way. We have Meyers wagons and the grass comes out in big chunks sometimes. You have yo be watching it it doesn't slug the blower.

I so enjoyed your video thanks. I dought that those round bales will keep the Deer away as they can jump pretty high. string some fencing wire around that may help. How about some lights that the movement will turn them on and scare them.

Hey All, That is some nice looking hay silage you chopped. Reminds me of my home farm and when we did Hay silage. Now the video you took of the Thunderstorms off in the distance reminds me of the thunderstorms we get coming off of the Gulf of Mexico. Where my horse farm is, I am only 35 to 40 miles from the Gulf, Which is west of my place. And yes, As you know we have a big Hurricane moving our way. The 1 AM report for today9/25/24 is for Helene to grow very big very fast and possible Cat 5 hitting the big end area or Panhandle around 125 MPH or higher. Possible wind gust up over 200 MPH. Of course our farm is on the dirty side of the storm, Wish us luck! Enjoyed your video, Thanks for sharing.

What’s the difference between the 400 and the 600 Gehl? The 600 was a popular model where I live in south eastern Wisconsin. Love to see those old choppers still at work
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy 4 сағат бұрын
They are pretty similar, I think the 600 is newer and built heavier to handle more horsepower, the 600s also have the blower on a hinge so it can swing out of the way, the 400s have a fixed blower.

Hey All. Hay looked just right for chopping. Alittle dusty at times but . Looked nice. If we chopped and it wasn't chopping good enough? We would adjust the knives. And the sheer bar.. ours was adjustable. You have a Miller that's giving 107 lbs of milk a day? Nice... oh hows that ideal with the straw in a bag turned out for you? Did it work?

You’re bad at your boxes look like they are made of wood, so you need to get some house paint and paint them before they rot, and the sides fall apart on yet. Probably be a good idea to paint the inside too! A good job for your kids
