I'm new to Jazz standards, my man. Sorry for the stupid question, but *what is the difference between ii7 and iim7?* I've seen iim7 in some places and I don't know if it refers to the same chord that is played first in the progression of this video... Can't seem to find the answer on the internet either.

m7 is minor 7th chord, maj7 is major 7th chord and when there is neither m nor maj, it's a dominant 7th chord.

ii7 and iim7 indicate the same chord. The lower case roman numerals implies a minor chord. Upper case would imply a dominant 7th chord as in II7.

ii7 = II-7 second minor degree 1 b3 5 b7 ex: C Eb G Bb ( from his root Bbmaj7) dorian scale :D

What are some good tunes that use this kind of chord progression?
@Learnjazzstandards11 жыл бұрын
There are so many of them! Chances are that if its in the Great American Songbook, it has a ii V I. Autumn Leaves, I Hear a Rhapsody, Body and Soul, It Could Happen to You, Days of Wine and Roses.....and hundreds if not thousands more!

the question rather is: find jazztunes in which the 251 does not appear :) so honestly you never go wrong working on that in the cycle.
@rillloudmother10 жыл бұрын
not only that, but you can often superimpose a ii V7 i onto a I Maj chord that lasts 2 or more bars to good effect.
