You do so much in a day! But it's so cool to watch because you get a sense of what a farmer's day is. I had no clue, and there you are, working your butt off to feed us. Thank you!

I am pretty new to this channel, so I decided, like others here, to start at the beginning. I do recommend it because so many terms that are used in later videos are explained in the earlier ones. Maybe because Sandi was new to vlogging she was careful to elaborate on procedures and terminology. For whatever reason, it has been so helpful to my total lack of sheep/cow knowledge. There is a term she used today that I don’t remember, although I am sure it has been in earlier videos. Could someone explain “dry ewe”. I tried to reason it out, and since a primary focus of this farm seems to be lambing which involves milk, my first thought was that a dry ewe would be the opposite. One who either is not pregnant or has weaned her lamb. Probably totally off the mark, so some help would be appreciated.
@michellegrovak3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a ewe whose lamb had weaned and her udder has dried up.

Umm...I'm also the mom whose kids would miss the kids twice during exam week! ha. Glad I'm not alone. And you're a rock star - only the best moms can feed their kids bottles and multi-task on the phone at the same time. ;) Loved this look into your day - and night! What a good feeling going to bed with the bank statement reconciled. I don't really know that feeling well lol. xoxo

Hey Sandi brock I love your work your teaching style it's WOW Please tell me these sheep breeds you they have enough milk for the kids And please also tell if not then how you manage
@SandiBrock6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Amir! The breed is a composite made up of a Dorset/Rideau base. Which makes them good moms with good milk supply. I bottle feed any lambs that are abandoned or just not getting enough from mom (multiples). I recently bought a Grober automatic milk machine for the bottle babies and it worked great!

@shannonrickard86052 жыл бұрын
If it's sold commercially you'd probably not be able to find out where it ends up, but I know Sandi has been doing some things with farm-to-table type sales and she did some beef and lamb boxes in the past, not sure if she will do them again. She talked about trying to figure out the logistics to get it across the border without spoiling awhile ago.

My vaccines used are Tasvax for replacement ewe lambs, and yearly boosters for mature ewes. I use a Chlamydia vaccine for replacement ewes, also with an annual booster, and now I'm giving a chlostridial vaccine to my bottle lambs for added protection.

We have a 9 month old jenney thats been pretty rough with our sheep. She was 5 months old when we brought her to our farm. She was with both parents along with cattle when we picked her up. She was wild and never been handeled. She is gentel now towards us and pretty much like a dog now. She had been alone on our farm for a few months until we bought the sheep. We used woven wire to seperate the barn in half. She was on one side freely able to come and go. Sheep were fixed on the other in the barn. All seemed well the first few days she licked them through the fence. I turned the sheep out after 5 days she started stomping and chasing them. I since now have divided the paddock with 3 strands of electric fence right down the middle of the barn. So now she can see them out in the pasture, but wont attack them because of fear of the electric fence. She is now 9 months old. I noticed her bite my ram and a ewe through the woven wire in the barn this evening. I immediatley smacked her with my hat. What should i do? I need her to protect them and ti all be together. I heard coyotes tonight when i left them. Shes there only hope of survival. Would you recommed a shock collar for her aggression/training?
