Quite shocked. Where I flew for 30 yrs hot loads were the exception, typically on scene calls not inter facility flights. Also we changed our Op Specs years ago to eliminating the control locks, having a pilot at the controls on a running A/C at all times. Our B and C1 models sold off years ago now a C2,D2,D3 fleet they don't even come with control locks anymore. Nice to see a few B models still around. I started in a BK A3, now that's old.

I love the design. It's interesting that you mentioned running unattended. In the same city a recorded a crop duster doing the same thing. I got thinking about it, and when he came in for a break I asked him if he wanted me to edit the video with the plane running unattended. He said no, and that it didn't matter. As I was leaving later on, he waved me down and asked me to edit the clip.

I just the design of this BK-117 looks. It's beautiful. ❤️ Oh! By the way, what was that loud squeaking sound? I also heard another aircraft engine going. Was that another BK-117 taking off?

@@ChosenWon Well, walking around a running helicopter is always dangerous. A couple years ago there was an accident at a German hospital where a member of the hospital staff approached a BK 117 while the engines were running and for whatever reason they got too close to the tail rotor and were struck in the head suffering fatal injuries. Can't be too careful around these machines.

The BK requires a warm up and cool down period. Depending on the patients condition we sometimes hot load/unload to save time. Also less wear and tear on the parts.

Why does it take so long to take off, aren't the engines already hot from the flight in?
