Respect on the awesome form and balance. I see alot of steps I learned taking Lung Shou Pai for 2 years. I remember my Sihing telling me it contained some Wing Chun and Hung Gar but cant remember if he said Choy Li Fut. Either way I strive to learn them all. Wooden dummies are fun and addictive to me. Once I get started I don't wanna stop till I'm ready to pass out :/

OK. Great Info but not enough information. Is it possible to obtain more information on how to build or purchase a wooden dummy like what you show in your videos? I have viewed many other videos, and your "form" is the best I have seen yet.@@Choy-Li-Fut-Kung-Fu

There are 17 other dummies for choy li fut, look up "18 different dummies for choy li fut" there are interesting and multipurposed ones like a barrier made of 4 aligned posts, wedged together through the sides top to bottom 3 wooded rods. Each post on each far end down every rod was a striking wedge, both posts in-between the other 2, each have a moveable striking wedge as well, only its mounted on top. This dummy I described is used to practice both the small cross pattern and the small plum blossom boxing/fist forms, I think it's just called the small cross pattern dummy. There's also pretty basic but functional ones like the barrier/wall sand bad dummy, the spring dummy, moving arm bag dummy, to complex and challenging such as the 3 star hand dummy/dummies, the forest dummy, the dummy in the video here the the usual balanced dummy or ching jong(its looks like the Jong for wing chun, but one (some all, even the leg)arm has a pivot/joint to it and some of them from what I've seen have both the arms and the leg move on a joint/pivot or made of bent, thick rubber just to bend around.) and to cut short at the coolest, is a giant dummy that is also one entire goddamn room, its literally called the great door opening dummy(I have yet to see this dummy built or seen pics of it built but I've seen the old drawn schematics for it from one of the many pages my Sifu printed from his old sheets that he got from his Sifu). There's actually a website I found called plum blossom net that actually has the same pages if not recreated very close to the original designs given in old school texts and manuals over these training dummies that I have been shown by my sifu. Anyways, It's greatest option is that you can build it in any decent sized room of your choice. Technically if you correctly purposed the body, then arms, bags/pads for nerve dense/generally obvious vulnerable areas, moveable arms/legs for either conditioning, reaction time and body maneuverability improvement. Shit, go outside and look around for a short, stout and firm tree to practice or wail on You can almost make everything and anything into a useful Choy Li Fut dummy. Bruce Lee had his personal Dummy made for his Jeet Kwun Dow, Ive made my own dummy for myself. Anyone who reads this take a look at these dummies, find a legit master/grandmaster(ask only one question: "What are the 5 elements that makes the foundation for gungfu?" They should immediately or simple respond with" Fire, wood, earth, water, and metal.". If not, they're fake as FUCK), find others in various martial training backgrounds, train until they all say they have nothing left to teach you(10-15 years most likely, Same time it took me to finish general Budo/bujutsu, which is an umbrella term that includes karate, jiujitsu forms like aikido and judo in tow with 21 other forms under the name. Along with taking Muay Thai, Hapkido, Wrestling and boxing, I finished my last class around 19 yrs). When you feel you need to be a better fight, go to a gym or anywhere with a mma cage or ring inside. Fight other backgrounds here too, this is the only way you can improve as a fighter and/or competitor.

Thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge about the various training dummies used in Choy Li Fut. It's fascinating to hear about the different types of dummies and their purposes in practicing different forms and techniques. The variety of dummies you mentioned, from basic and functional ones to more complex and challenging designs, showcases the versatility and adaptability of Choy Li Fut training methods. It's great that you have explored building your own dummy and have found ways to adapt your training environment to suit your needs. Do you have any instructions and supplies list for making a ming jong?
I get this is a different thought process and just training but as you step in you even say "drop the hands" as they go back and behind, complete opening up your entire body for massive destruction. Can you explain the purpose and idea behind this, please and thank you for any response. Not being negative or mean, I truly am asking so that I may learn.

@zenshinacademy4096 Thank you for your thoughtful question and genuine interest in understanding the purpose and idea behind the "drop the hands" movement in the Choy Li Fut wooden dummy form. I appreciate your open-mindedness and willingness to learn. In Choy Li Fut Kung Fu, the "drop the hands" movement serves multiple purposes. It is a strategic action that allows the practitioner to create a relaxed and flexible structure while simultaneously opening up the body for powerful strikes. By dropping the hands back and behind, the body becomes more rooted and connected, enabling the generation of greater force and facilitating efficient energy flow throughout the movements. Additionally, the "drop the hands" technique helps to develop proper body mechanics and timing. It teaches the practitioner to maintain a relaxed and responsive state, allowing for quick defensive actions and smooth transitions between techniques. The opening up of the body also enhances mobility and agility, enabling the practitioner to adapt and respond effectively to different situations. It's important to note that the wooden dummy form is a training tool that emphasizes specific principles and concepts in Choy Li Fut. While the movements may appear open and vulnerable, they are designed to cultivate attributes such as structure, coordination, and timing. In actual combat, these movements would be executed with precision, speed, and accuracy, taking advantage of the opponent's vulnerabilities while maintaining defensive capabilities. I hope this explanation provides some insight into the purpose and idea behind the "drop the hands" movement in the Choy Li Fut wooden dummy form. If you have any further questions or if there's anything else you'd like to discuss, please feel free to ask. Keep up the dedication to your training, and continue to explore and learn. 🙏

@@Choy-Li-Fut-Kung-Fu Thanks for the explanation. If I comprehend what you are saying it creates a more rooted position and allows for more force in the strike, as well as a more relaxed position allowing for faster response.
@Choy-Li-Fut-Kung-Fu Жыл бұрын
@@zenshinacademy4096 You're absolutely right! The concept of "dropping the hands" in the Choy Li Fut wooden man form serves multiple purposes. By lowering and positioning the hands behind the body, it helps create a more rooted and stable stance, allowing for greater power and force generation in strikes. This grounded position enhances your ability to generate and transfer energy effectively. Additionally, the relaxed position of the hands enables faster response and fluidity in your movements. By keeping the hands relaxed and close to the body, you can initiate strikes and defensive techniques with minimal wasted motion, maximizing efficiency and speed. Overall, the combination of a rooted stance and relaxed hand positioning in the wooden man form helps develop a strong foundation, power, and speed in your techniques. It's a key aspect of Choy Li Fut training that cultivates both strength and agility. Thank you for your observation and understanding. Keep up the great work in your training!
