Does LeBron passing MJ on the all-time scoring list make him the GOAT?

First Things First: Cris Carter and Nick Wright if Lebron becomes the #1 leading scorer of all time then yes. Nobody thought anybody would ever catch Kareem, especially not lebron. If you go back in time 10 years to 2009 before Lebron went to Miami. And told everyone Lebron will go down as the all time leading scorer, people would think ur crazy and lying.

He solidified himself as a better all-around basketball player than Jordan when he led his team to winning the 2016 championship coming back down 3-1 while he was playing with a pass first mentality (assisting on 50% of his teams shots) when the odds were stacked against his team. Everything that he's been doing since then will be the frosting, icing, sprinkles, and the lit candles added on top to make his case even stronger.

@G-man that Lebron is a better passer...the only time Jordan was asked to be ball dominate like Lebron ie ball in hand and making decisions, he put up numbers Lebron never has in a season: "Jordan continued to play at the PG spot until the end of the season. In these 24 games he averaged 30.4 pts, 9.2 rebs, 10.7 asts & 2.4 stls. Between March 24 and April 14, 1989, he recorded a triple double in ten of the eleven games, including seven consecutive ones. In the game he didn’t record a TD, he finished with 40 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds."

@@brucebruce5103 come on dude. Now thats a little too far....saying lebron is overrated is like saying kobe or tom brady is overrated. Like chris said, lebron has been hyped since high school and he exceeded it not only he exceeded it, he literally the best player in the world for pretty much almost a decade. You gotta give lebron credit for that and he got cleveland a championship in basketball. Hes not better than jordan but hes obviously top 10 and debatable as top 5.

Magic dribbled the clock out in the Finals game. Kobe shot his team out of a Finals game in 2004. Wade County I’m specifically talking about MJ that playoff game did happen but Lebron James did it on the biggest stage. He choked. This was after he mocked Dirk for being sick and he got cocky thinking the series was over. Big mistake he proceeded to choke for the rest of the series.I understand you’re a little bit bias since Lebron helped you win those titles but you have to admit no superstar choked more on a championship stage than Lebron did that series. Not to mention how Lebron said he’d win not four not five not six not seven championships and he wasn’t joking he really thought he could win all those titles

Mind of the North Star Not really. Only defensively. But offensively they’re even. Jordan only averages 3 more points than LeBron while LeBron shoots better from the field and from three and averages more assists, and he beats Jordan in all the advanced offensive stats.
@BC21beats
@BC21beats 5 жыл бұрын
you don't need to grow up watching MJ there's something called tapes seeing both play looking at both players stats I give a slight edge to Lebron 90s was not a good era despite what people say expansion teams and talent that was very spread apart made it seem like it was competitive but that was just the regular season only teams with 2+ stars were legit contenders Rockets, Bulls, Jazz. Defense is overstated yea it was a tougher era but players were slower and team defenses lacked the same nuance as they do today. (help defense was illegal). Furthermore, Jordan was the one who started the super star treatment and phantom calls after he complained that the pistons were too tough. That being said Jordan was an offensive beast and like Broussard said had no weaknesses in his game, and 6 championships 6 finals MVPs you can't argue against that. And the biggest edge he has on LeBron is that killer mode (kobe has the killer mode but he's far less efficient that either player). Why I think lerbon is better: I think the 2000s was the most competitive era of basketball period. There were multiple legit contenders every year and teams with multiple all stars on it every year. Lebron single handedly carried the team to a finals against a championship Detroit pistons team. The 2010s became much more top heavy but he almost single handedly beat the warriors in 2015 and led the greatest comeback in nba history in 2016. Also put up career highs in his 15th season in both rebounds and asst. Those are my reasons. If you wanna have a civilized debate I'm game but people need to stop hating on LeBron and stop hating on "millennials"

I'd like to nitpick a point. After the Bulls' title against the Lakers, MJ became more of a jump shooter. If you watched the '91 Finals, MJ was exhausted because of all the drives he was doing. Next season, he became more of a jump shooter and would become the best jump shooter in the league.

Leland Joseph thought it was self explanatory, but in case you missed bfast, LeBron has had way more games to just now reach that milestone. Isn’t impressive, especially considering the difference in actual physical size, which has granted LeBron more of an advantage to easily score, in an era where hand checking isn’t allowed, but was before when Jordan played, in the era of the greatest defensive players.

If...If...If...ANYONE....had seen or experienced the viewing of michael.jordans whole career, then there's NO WAY you would even considered lebron in that category. Mike was greater then the sport.....lebron isn't. That alone is enough note worthy. Last, mike had a deep lion inside of him....lebron had friendly mindset of aau which prevented..that. Jordan has the all time highest scoring average in NBA history at 30.1 and in the playoffs that goes up to 33.4. Lebron has averaged 27.2 but keep in mind that number is only going to go down from this point on as his skills diminish. The only reason Lebron is passing Jordan is simply because he has played way more games.

Listen, I watched MJ play and now I watch Lebron play and the margin of how much better MJ is is MASSIVE. It really is. Broussard analysed it aptly; MJ is by far a better and superior post player, finisher at the rim, midrange shooter, defender, and I’d even say 3 point shooter. People need to remember how offensively and defensively dominant MJ was in a physical and tough era where emphasis was on finishing in the paint & midrange shooting over the biggest and most dominant athletic 7 feet tall centres guarding the rim all game long, not the three point shooting and soft fouls era of today. There are seven or eight players (small forwards) from MJ’s era who’ll easily dominate Lebron James in today’s era and make him look ordinary.
