i’ve agreed with this argument my entire life but this just made me realize something…there’s nothing stopping you from saying the same thing about rappers. you can write the most miraculous verse and hook of all time but if your voice sucks it won’t matter. there’s literally no difference in logic or reasoning behind rap ghostwriters and singing ghostwriters. so since we can use the same logic for both crafts what is the real reason ghost writing isnt acceptable in rap. i think it’s an integrity thing. rap verses are more wordy and personal, you expect it to be an expression of the artists true self. whereas in r&b the topics are mainly about love and are often very generalized and you don’t necessarily need the lyrics to be true for the artist because you understand the feelings and perspectives can relate to anyone. rap on the other hand isn’t about a universal feeling, it’s cleverness and word play and introspective. requires wit and charm, personal anecdotes. you want the person who said the impressive, unique stuff you just heard to be the one who made it up otherwise what’s the point.

@@LKS-M9323 Just about anyone can "learn" how to rap tho. Everyone doesnt have a voice for singing. And tbh a big part of being a successful entertainer is also image. Alot of "ghost writers" dont Look the part and dont "Look" marketable so theyre used for their writing ability. Theres a multitude of factors that go into creating an artist. Thats why only a select few are pushed to the front. Chris is correct he just didnt explain it completely. Probably bcuz he's high lol. 😂😂
