A first love is only hard to get over because we have no experience on how we appropriately accept rejection or moving on from a relationship. As we grow into adults and become better at finding people we have more in common with and people whose behaviors and temperament are more compatible with our own, we grow as a person until the person we were during our first love, is barely recognizable to the person we are now. But i guess not everyone experiences personal growth, but instead romanticizes past loves, while failing to remember the stark reality of why we moved on it the first place.
